CupboardHeroes – Cancer Prevention Action Week

It's Cancer Prevention Action Week!

We're delighted to announce that our Ambassador for the week is TV chef and bestselling author Phil Vickery, who you probably recognise from his regular slot on This Morning.

Phil VickeryPhil is a big fan of using store cupboard staples to whip up delicious, healthy, low-cost meals and so was the perfect fit for our message that the real super foods are the cheap, nutritious #CupboardHeroes you’ll find in many kitchens around the UK.

Yesterday, Phil, and other World Cancer Research Fund spokespeople, took part in a series of media interviews. They spoke about cancer prevention and the findings of our national survey into the ‘State of the nation’s store cupboards’ which revealed that:

  • The most popular store cupboard staples are tuna and white pasta (27% of the vote each)
  • The least favourite are lentils (4% of the vote)
  • The majority of people (42%) spend £20-30 per person on their weekly shop

You can hear Phil’s interview with BBC Radio Manchester, here (at 1h48 mins).
