Home Visits

FLC staff are working hard to make sure that students have everything they need to be successful and have full access to the curriculum during distance learning. This includes dropping off materials and supplies twice a month and checking in on families regularly!

Art and Sequencing Practice

Royal Penguins have been working on following two and three step directions and their art skills at the same time! Here is some of their final artwork from a penguin picture they worked on virtually.

October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

FLC staff members showed their support by wearing pink to bring awareness and to honor survivors, remembering those lost to the disease, and to support the progress we are making together to defeat breast cancers.

Virtual Zoo Field Trips

Macaroni Penguins have been visiting the National Zoo, via webcam. They are using graphic organizers to record their observations as they watch the animals in their environment. Students then created their own habitats for an animal of their choice with materials around their home and used their public speaking skills to present their projects to the class virtually.

Book-o-Ween 2020

Staff and students were very excited about Book-o-Ween this year at FLC! The Emperor Penguin team collaborated to represent the characters in the book "The Littlest Witch" and the Rockhopper Penguin team represented "Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom!"

Our Librarian Dr. Sara Connected FLC to Epic Books

Epic Books provides free access to fiction and nonfiction books for children, including many early readers and chapter books. Ms. Barnett's Royal Penguins have earned a badge from Epic Books for reading 50 books already in the first quarter!

Staff Success!

Ms. Jenna, one of our elementary/middle school teachers, has completed the requirements to be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst! With her certification, she can now expertly use scientific and systematic processes to help influence behavior and promote student success.

Welcoming New Students

Although we are virtual, we are still accepting students and are so excited when new students enroll! Macaroni Penguins created a warm and nurturing environment when a new friend enrolled in the middle of the quarter.
