Wishing all of our supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Thank you to everyone who has supported MTV Youth over the last year.  As we’ve settled into our new home at ‘The Bungalow’, the numbers of young people have increased each week. It has been fabulous to watch them enjoy the space, taking part in crafts, games and outdoor sports.

Harry's Jack Petchey Award

Congratulations to Harry Morris, this term’s Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner. Harry has been a Young Leader at MTV Youth since September 2017 and has won this award in recognition of the outstanding contribution he has made to the club during that time. Harry is such a funny guy and a joy to be around. He makes everyone laugh and naturally puts other members at ease even if its their first time at club. He’s helpful, kind, encouraging, supportive and fair and he’s been instrumental in seeing basketball become a core activity at the youth club. We are delighted that the youth club members voted for him to get this award. Harry has chosen to spend his £250 on a trip for the young leaders - ice skating at Hampton Court Palace.

Astroturf

Thanks to grants from the Harlequins Foundation, Heathrow Community Trust and the Travers Smith Foundation, we’ve been able to install some astroturf in the bungalow garden. This has really transformed the area and enabled us to use the space for outdoor games and fitness.

Fundraising
At our annual awards night in July we launched our appeal to raise £200,000 by January 2021 in order to purchase the Bungalow.
We’ve had a great start to the campaign, so far raising £50,000 and we are currently in the process of applying for capital grants to raise significant funds before having a big fundraising push early next year.
One area often overlooked is the role that employers and businesses can play in raising funds for charities. If your business or employer could support the work of MTV Youth, Hampton please do let us know.

Thank yous

To Penny Dimond, who has helped lead MTV for the last 8 years and is stepping down from having such an active role in the New Year. You’ll still see Penny as a Friday night volunteer. We are pleased that Laura Woodhead, the St Mary’s Church Childrens and Families Pastor, will be helping Nick Neilan to keep things organised and provide leadership to our volunteers until a more permanent arrangement is decided on.

To the Harlequins Foundation for a grant of £2,500.
To the Heathrow Community Fund for a grant of £2,500.
To the Travers Smith Foundation for a grant of £1,000.
To Waitrose, Hampton  for their continued donation of food for Friday night’s tuck (sandwiches and fruit) and for including us in their green token scheme for December. If you are shopping in Waitrose, please do support us with this.
