The Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation is officially a non-profit!

As of April 18th, 2015, Kelly Weis (KJWF President) received official notice from the IRS that we are now and forever-more recognized as a non-profit organization.  This is a dream come true for all of us and we are grateful to everyone who has supported Team Kenadi and continues to do so in the future!  Thank you!

Butterflies and Bees: Teaming up to transform lives.

The KJW Foundation and Black Hills State University have teamed up to offer one amazing scholarship to special education majors.
Every year, we plan to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who is majoring in special education at BHSU.  This year is the first year that we have been able to do so and we are so happy about the results of our scholarship recipient search!  After receiving initial applications, we asked potential recipients to explain why becoming a special education teacher is important to them and how they plan to make a difference after graduation.
We have made a final selection for our first annual Kenadi Jean Weis Scholarship winner and will be announcing him/her in our next issue as well as at a BHSU basketball home game in the fall.  Click here if you'd like to learn more about the scholarship and what it means to our community and keep an eye on our events calendar to find out which game of the season we will be awarding the scholarship!
All-Inclusive Swing Seat installed at Spartan Park

On April 8, 2015 the Zonta Club of Spearfish awarded over $32,000 to 36 non-profit groups in the Northern Hills.
One of those non-profits was the Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation.  The foundation's request for the grant money was to purchase an all-inclusive swing seat from Landscape Structures to be placed in a neighborhood play area.
This Swing Seat was installed on July 2 at Spartan Park in Spearfish and is the first piece of truly all-inclusive play equipment to be placed in a public park in our community.
The deep, wide ergonomic seat accommodates individuals of all ages and abilities.
Above, a friend of Kenadi's approves the swing for us after installation.
