Calls for Submissions:

Call for Submissions--Work Matters the deadline is January 18. 

Prairie Fire is seeking fiction, creative non-fiction, essays, and poetry on the topic of work.

For centuries, people have written stories, essays, poems and plays about work, which provide a social history of that time. Today, this topic is just as relevant as we attempt to find or create work in a world that is changing faster than we can think.

Please have in your subject line: Your full name, the name of the issue and what type of work you are submitting. Example: Jane Smith, Work Matters Poetry

The Writers’ Union of Canada is undertaking it’s 4th Publishers Report Card Survey. A summary of the survey results, which will be shared in aggregate form on the Union’s website, will assist writers in navigating the publishing industry in general and publishing contracts in particular. The Union would like to hear from you about your recent publishing experiences.
All responses are completely anonymous. Writers’ comments may be published to assist others in evaluating publishers. Comments will not be directly attributed. Deadline November 26For more information.

Are you our next Canadian Writer-in-Residence? The Calgary Distinguished Writers Program invites emerging writers to apply for our 2020-2021 paid ten-month residency. Applications are open until January 15, 2019. For more information.
