WORDWORKS is calling! The Federation of British Columbia Writers is seeking an experienced managing editor for our three-times yearly magazine (32-40 pages). This is a part-time contract position with a set monthly rate, ideal for an individual with their own computer equipment and the ability to work independently and manage timelines and deadlines.
The successful candidate will be able to manage editorial content and work with freelance writers. Essential skills will be Indesign/Photoshop/Illustrator, proofreading, layout, and excellent grammar/spelling.
This is an ideal post for someone with magazine/periodical/publishing experience and some background in creative writing. Familiarity with working with a style guide is important (WordWorks currently uses the Chicago Manual of Style). Ability to work effectively, amicably, and accountably with partners (including the organization's executive and volunteers) is important.
This will probably require some advertising design, but most of our advertisers submit their own material. You must have a strong internet connection, as all work will be done digitally. Interested candidates should submit CV/resume/work samples and references by Nov. 15, 2018, to:
