Hello, Writers,

Hello, all,

We're already in October! September passed by so quickly, and we're now knee deep into the fall air. I've already polished off one pumpkin pie by myself, and I've only been home for a week. Have you started embracing fall, yet?

For those submitting events, please send them now to where our wonderful volunteer Brad can ensure they make it into the relevant newsletters.

Calls for Submissions:

Call for Submissions--Vallum 16:1 “Connections” the deadline is November 15.
"Poetry is the shortest distance between two humans," Lawrence Ferlinghetti aphorized, in 2012. Of what nature is that connection? What, in a poem, makes us feel close to another human, especially one we've never met? How do we connect?
The editors at Vallum are committed to enriching and continuing the tradition of poetry in the present day. We welcome submissions that deepen our understanding of what poetry is and can be. We encourage Indigenous writers, writers of colour, gender non-conforming writers, differently abled writers, LGBTQ writers, writers with mental or physical illnesses, and writers who are otherwise affected by structural inequality to submit their work for consideration.
Send us your best poems! For more information →

Workshops & Retreats:

Planet Earth Poetry, 2018 Workshop with Micheline Maylor will be October 20 from 10:00 - 2:30. Register by emailing

And that's all! Please let us know of any events you would like shared, and we'll do our best to keep WriteOn informative and interesting.

Enjoy your week,
