Dear <<First Name>>,

Things are changing swiftly.

This is what your practice has been training you for.

Let’s be gentle with ourselves, and eachother.
Let’s remember our agility and attend to what’s needed right now.
Let’s hold space for grieving what’s been lost, and for receiving what’s to come.

It is clear from all the despair and reactivity that we have a lot of inner work to do. We are a society predicated on productivity and consumption. It’s good we realize that. It’s good that we confront that. It’s about time.

I have spent 10+ years teaching full-time, inviting people to calm their nervous system, to eat well to support their bodies, to awaken to the power of their breath - all things that would promote immunity, longevity, and serenity. On the overtired and hectic days, I am crestfallen to see the intense amount of hysteria and conceit, and I feel bewildered. On other days, I roll up my sleeves and get to work.

In this time when many of us have been forced to stop what we’ve been doing (myself included), let it be an opportunity to reexamine how we move through our lives:

How have I been frozen?
What aspect of myself / my life have I been neglecting?
What are my priorities?

And let that span out into the way you support and commune with others:

Who can I count on?
Can they count on me?
What does it mean to be able to count on someone?

While all the studios I teach at are closed, I continue to be here for you, with digital Ayurvedic counselling sessions. Also feel free to connect with me on Instagram (@adrienne.shum). As well, I am looking into other ways to connect digitally; look out for that in the coming future.

We are all learning as we go. We are in this together.

Sending health to you and yours,
Ayurvedic sessions

Ayurveda offers time-honoured wisdom that emphasizes daily, preventative practices through food and lifestyle to promote well-being. If you’ve been thinking about doing a one-on-one session, this is a great time to create pattern shifts. I am offering 75-minute digital sessions (via FaceTime, Skype, or phone). Find more information here.
Saravat gift cards

If you feel moved to support me and Saravat at this time, consider buying an e-gift card. Save it for yourself, or gift to a friend. All Saravat products are made in a sanitized environment (thanks to my food science knowledge for that!). The formulas are based in the traditional healing method of Ayurveda, which is an incredible wealth of information for how to promote wellness.

For instance, The Nasya Oil is excellent for lubricating the nasal passages and preventing illness; oil-based creams keep the skin hydrated to strengthen the body’s barrier to pathogens. Besides that, using natural, plant-derived oils is a luscious and joyful way to take care of ourselves - in times of crisis, or not. Use the code NEWSLETTER for 10% off everything (except ritual kits and gift cards) until March 31st.
Update on Special Events and Workshops

Yoga Pop-Up class at Small Mercies
We have decided to cancel the March 28th date to help flatten the curve. We hope to go forward with a late April date, but we’ll wait and see!

Ayurvedic Spring Reset at Yoga Public Downtown
I am hoping to keep the April 19th date of the Spring Reset for the in-person workshop; in the meantime I am also looking into moving the workshop entirely into the digital space. Stay tuned!
