Newsletter - September 2018

Dear READ to RISE friends,

In September, we celebrated our 5th birthday! We thank you all for following us on this wonderful journey and look forward to inspiring many more young minds..

To date, READ to RISE has conducted programmes in over 2,500 classes at 90 primary schools in Mitchells Plain, Soweto and Limpopo, and has given out over 129,000 new story books!

We thank all our sponsors, volunteers, partners and supporters. Thank you to our amazing teams in Cape Town and JHB for the challenging, yet such important work that they do in the communities.

In 2018, we continued working with 45 primary schools in Mitchells Plain (CT), 20 schools in Soweto (JHB) and 5 schools in Makhado (Limpopo). We hope to give out 40,960 new books! We have raised 60% of our fundraising target.

If you can sponsor a learner for only R50 per learner click here or if you would like to assist us with fundraising in any way, please contact me on

We look forward to our upcoming school visits in the 4th school term and our trip to Limpopo in October.

We believe that if children love to read, they will excel at school and go on to become constructive citizens. It all starts with reading!

Let's keep inspiring children to read!

Best wishes,

Taryn Lock
Executive Director
