New ELR World Record
Congratulations to Randy Wise who set a new ELR World Record of 2158 yards at the NRA Nationals this past weekend. Randy Wise was shooting a 338 Savage using 300gr Berger Hybrids and the Applied Ballistics Elite Engine.

Randy Wise was shooting a Savage Arms rifle with stock 26" 1:9 barrel chambered in 338 Lapua. Loaded with Lapua Brass, Berger Bullets 300gr Hybrids, Federal 215M primers, and 90.5gr of Retumbo. His scope was Vortex Optics Golden Eagle, and he had Accurate Rifle Systems Chassis with a Rempel Bipod and Rifle Basics trigger. The match was officiated by Clay Rhoden of Target Vision.
Ray Gross wins NRA ELR National Championship
This past weekend was booming with activity from the shooting sports world. One of the bigger events was the 3rd annual NRA Extreme Long Range National Championship. This year the title went to Raymond Gross. Who not only won, but did so using a light class gun (.338 and below) against .375s, and .416s. Compound this along with the World Record being set with a stock savage and it goes to show you don't have to break the bank to be competitive in ELR. Congratulations to everyone on an excellent showing, and you can find the full results posted on ELR Central.

Understanding the Winds Influence on Ballistics.
It has been a while so we decided to cover this ever so important topic again. One of the critical factors that every shooter has to deal with at some point or another is the wind, and its value in how it will influence if a shooter hits a target or not. With both our home laboratory and mobile capabilities our team has been able to study the wind using scientific instruments around the world. With this we have been able to break down just how the wind will influence external ballistics based on the range of a given target. In this article we break down the science so you can better determine the factors you need to take into account to achieve better accuracy.

Applied Ballistics® Fall Seminar Update
Everyone at Applied Ballistics has many exciting new projects we are working on:
  • The guys at the Applied Ballistics Shop are building the M30TS Weapons systems as part of the ESSO contract.
  • Our Applied Ballistics Training Division held their first course in Michigan in July and received high praise for the classroom and live fire training. They are coordinating training events for the M30TS weapons system for the ESSO contract.
  • The Applied Ballistics Lab is immersed in loading lots and lots of custom ammo for our ESSO contract, preparing for the Weapons systems testing, and continuing to do BC testing on new bullets and other research endeavors.

We evaluated the schedules for holding our Fall Seminar and with all the other activities couldn’t find a date that met our objectives.  The decision is to focus on a Spring 2020 seminar, and to postpone the seminar this Fall.  We encourage everyone to check out the AB Training Division events; we’re confident you’ll find something to meet your education needs for this Fall.
