Thank you for your continued engagement. Detroit Future City is committed to upholding the work of the Detroit Neighborhood Housing Compact in the midst of these challenging times. We are working diligently to ensure that we make the technological adaptations needed to work remotely and host meetings virtually.
We began a journey with you that sought to challenge the status quo in the Single Family Housing Delivery System in Detroit affecting renters, home buyers and homeowners. We intend to continue that journey with you, leveraging your best thinking on the values that should guide the work and the collective actions needed to meet that challenge.
One of the pillars of a collective impact model is open and continuous communication. Now, more than ever, we need communication to reassure us that we can and will continue to work towards impact and change. We will continue Work Group meetings each month and will resume regular communications on Compact projects and Compact meetings.
2020 Meeting Schedule
Quarterly Advisory Committee meeting will be rescheduled soon.
Work Group meetings will continue every third Tuesday of each month and they will be virtual and will resume on April 21st:
Rental Work Group: 9:00 – 10:30 am.
Homeownership Work Group: 10:45 am – 12:15 pm.
Work Group Preview Last month, WSU's Center for the Study of Citizenship took us through the first part of a two-part process called “Naming and Framing”. We were able to capture and synthesize the problems identified by practitioners in the single family housing system. From those discussions, action items and values were collected and will be used to create an Issue Guide that will showcase the groups' best thinking. Next month we will review the Issue Guides and begin to narrow the focus of the Housing Compact through the "Deliberative Process". Our completed Issue Guides will be provided to the Advisory Committee for further input and to begin the process of identifying shared measures for impact.
