Safety Fair and Evacuation Drill: TOMORROW - 9AM

 ALL SLEEPY HOLLOW RESIDENTS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE AND ATTEND THE SAFETY FAIR!  Only residents of the neighborhoods near between Irving Dr and Hidden Valley Ln will receive the evacuation notices through Alert Marin.

TOMORROW, Saturday, August 4, 2018, Ross Valley Fire Department, Marin County Sheriff’s Office, Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District​, FIRESafe MARIN, and SHHA will hold an evacuation drill focused on Martling Drive and surrounding neighborhoods.  All Sleepy Hollow residents are invited to participate and attend a Safety Fair and wildfire simulation exercise at the Community Center - the drill should take no more than 30 minutes, beginning shortly after 9am.  The Safety Fair and wildfire simulation will be open until 11am.

14WILDFIRES600 READYResidents in the vicinity of Martling Drive (and neighboring streets) will receive an Alert Marin “reverse 9-1-1” emergency notification by phone with instructions to evacuate to a rallying point (Sleepy Hollow Community Center, 1341 Butterfield Rd) where we’ll have a Safety Fair with information and demonstrations on fire safety and evacuation tips.  The county's state-fo-the-art wildfire simulation "sand-table" will be on display to help emergency managers plan for an eventual wildfire in Sleepy Hollow, and provide residents a glimpse at what a real wildfire might do to their neighborhood.

Please plan to participate - use the opportunity to inform your family and prepare for the evantuality that a wildfire will strike in Sleepy Hollow!

The following streets will receive the evacuation notice by landline phone (VOIP and cell requires registration at www.alertmarin.org):

  • Butterfield Rd
  • Green Valley Ct
  • Irving Dr
  • Martling Rd
  • Van Tassel Ct
  • Sleepy Hollow Dr
  • Hidden Valley Ln
  • All Sleepy Hollow Residents are invited to participate, whether or not you live in the drill area.

Local fire and law enforcement agencies plan to use this as a valuable training opportunity.  Please watch for fire and law enforcement vehicles on the road.  Your participation will help make this a success and help make Sleepy Hollow a safer Firewise Community!
