Forward to Friend

On Sunday, October 4, our church will celebrate over 140 years of Christian service in Birmingham.  We will begin our Homecoming celebration with morning worship  at 10:15 am, which will include a special performance from our new chime choir, along with the dedication of the chimes and new choir robes.  Following worship, we will have a potluck lunch in the Christian Life Center.  This will be a special time of fellowship, renewing friendships, and sharing sweet memories.  Please mark your calendars for this special day of celebration.
Fall Sermon Series
Calling the church a building makes about as much sense as calling a person a 2x4.  Church isn’t some place we go; church is who we are.  Join us in worship this Sunday as Rev. Troy Tatum concludes our latest sermon series, “Stop Going to Church...and Start Being the Church.”

Sept. 27: “Into the Deep”
Luke 5:1-11

The Chancel Choir will start practice for our Christmas cantata tonight at 7:30 pm.  If you would like to sing with the choir for this special Christmas celebration, we invite you to join us in the sanctuary on Wednesday nights to begin practicing Night of the Father’s Love: The Awe and Mystery of God with Us.  We will perform the cantata on Sunday morning, December 20.

We are training children ages Kindergarten - 5th grade to be acolytes in worship and we'd love to have you join us. Acolytes carry the light of Christ into worship and light the candles on the altar each Sunday. Kids are on a rotation so that they participate as acolytes in worship about once every 6-8 weeks. This training for new acolytes will be Sunday, September 27 at 4:45 pm in the sanctuary. Come and be a part of worship leadership on Sundays!
Lynchburg, Tennessee Day Trip

Bible Buddies (4K-1 grade) and Cool Kids (2 – 5 grade) are in full swing. BB and CK begin at 5:00 pm with a snack supper, they have the opportunity to participate in Praise Kids, a musical group for 4K-5th grade, and have fabulous leaders who play games, tell stories, make crafts and learn more about God’s love for all of us. Come join us THIS SUNDAY!

Worship and Wonder Mission Project
September 20th will be a special opportunity in Children's Worship and Wonder for our children to participate in service: putting together hygiene kits for delivery to a local elementary school where there are children in need.  This will be a wonderful chance for the children of FCC to live the lessons of the stories they hear each week. We hope to see your child there!

It's that time of year again, School, football, and Sunday nights at church! Our students are excited about the opportunity to spend time together and grow in their faith as they learn to follow Jesus more completely. And we all know it just wouldn't be the same without food, right? We would appreciate it if you would consider signing up for a meal one week. We are using sign-up genius to help track each week and we think it will make everything simpler. All you have to do is click the link below for a list of available dates, choose one that works for you and sign up. You're welcome to team up with others, just choose a point person to sign up. Please remember, if you would like to be reimbursed, save your receipts and give them to Donnette Mee or Robin and we'll make sure you get a check. Also, you can apply those receipts to your giving statement if you'd like to make it a tax deduction.

Check out our schedule and sign up today!

nformation on how much to prepare is on the sign up page, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
Fall enrollment went very well.   We have welcomed some new friends into The Adventure Nook family!
