What is a Trunk-or-Treat?

The congregation gathers at the church, opens up the trunks of their cars and the backs of their trucks and vans, and kids come around to each car to Trick-or-Treat.

Are the trunks the only thing that will take place?

No! We will have a cakewalk, face painting, hayride, prizes, and more. There will be something for everyone!  Expect all kinds of fun festival activities in addition to the trunk or treating.

What can I do to help?
So glad you asked!

  • Sign up to decorate a trunk (sign-up sheet in narthex or email us). You can decorate however you would like. If you need a place to start, do a Google search of “trunk or treat ideas” and you’ll find all sorts of great possibilities. Plan on having enough candy or treats for 100+ trick-or-treaters. Set-up will begin in the  soccer field at 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 25th. Cars, trucks, or vans need to be parked, decorated, and ready for activities by 2:45.  Cars should remain parked until 5:00 p.m. The more trunks we have the better!!!
  • You can also sign-up to provide baked goods for the cakewalk (sign-up sheet in narthex or email us).
  • Help us get the word out. This is a community event: please invite your friends, neighbors, and family members. We will have fliers available this Sunday that you can hang up at work or businesses you frequent, along with invitations you can pass out to people you meet. Also watch the church’s Facebook page for an event invitation you can share on social media.
  • Join us on Oct. 25th!
Workday at Vincent Elementary School
Saturday, November 7
8 AM to 12:30 PM

Join us on Saturday, November 7 as we partner with parents, teachers, and administrators from Vincent Elementary School to begin landscaping the school courtyard (pictures below). There are several projects for us to work on, including removing some existing plants and shrubs, weeding, possibly removing pea gravel as well as replanting and planning for future projects. Lunch at VES is included and childcare is provided (on the VES playground) if needed.

Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty.  Bring shovels, rakes, and other tools you think might be helpful.

This is a great opportunity to invite a friend!

Come make a difference in the lives of some of God's precious children.  Click here to sign up now for this amazing opportunity to serve our community.

We are also in need of people who are especially handy or skilled in landscaping to serve as work team leaders.  If this sounds like you, click here to email Troy Tatum to volunteer to lead a work team.

What If?
New Sermon Series Begins Oct. 18

What if we had more faith?
What if we put our faith in action?
What if we let God lead the way?

Join us the next three weeks in worship as we explore together the endless possibilities God has in store for us when we walk in faith.  Along with these messages from Rev. Troy Tatum, we will hear lay leaders from our church and our community talk about the impact and the potential of our mission and ministries.  We will also have the opportunity to prayerfully consider our financial stewardship and make our commitments to support what God is doing in, with, and through First Christian Church.

Click here to listen to last Sunday's sermon.
