This Sunday:
4/10 KID-LED Worship

Join us this Sunday as our children lead us on a journey through the life of Elijah though music, prayer, dance, and communion.

We will practice Saturday, April 9 from 9:00-10:30 AM.

Blessing of the Pets April 17

You and your four-legged loved ones are invited to the Blessing of the Pets on April 17 at 4 PM at First Christian Church. All types of pets are welcome, and should be brought on a leash or in a suitable carrier. This service of blessing will include prayer, music, and reflections by Rev. Troy Tatum, as well as an opportunity to bring your pets forward for an individual blessing. After the service, we'll have a time of fellowship with snacks and treats for pets and their humans.
Get your tickets today for a fun night in support of our youth as they prepare to travel to Kentucky to work in home repair ministry. Suspect Hollywood is a 3 act “who done it” dinner theater. Come and join us for dinner and a show and see if you can figure out who murdered Cameron Stone. Tickets are $15 and table reservations are available (seat 8) for $110.  Find a youth to purchase your tickets today!

ATTENTION FCC MEN:

Playground Workday Saturday, April 9th
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

We have been asked by Debbie Braswell of The Adventure Nook to fix up the playground for the warm weather ahead.  We need to pressure wash and remove all the dirt and mildew that has accumulated over the year. Next, we need to paint, make minor repairs, weed and oil all the equipment. We also need to finish the rubber mulch in the prayer garden.  When we have a group of volunteers, I will assign tasks and coordinate the material to do the job. Call me at 980-1827 or email JL091649@yahoo.com.  Also, there is a sign-up sheet in the narthex.

Thanks!
Jim Langley

Wish List for TAN Playground
  1. Pressure wash all the playground equipment.
  2. Paint bench by brick wall of church (Russ Favorite made this and the children sit on it each day to get the sand out of their shoes)
  3. Spray clear coat on all fiber glass equipment
  4. Check the roofs over our sand boxes.  Some wood is in bad shape and some painting is needed. We are concerned about the bees we have invading us this time of year.
  5. Bench around tree needs painting.
  6. Most of the older metal equipment needs painting:
    1. Boat
    2. Hummer
    3. Both Merry-go-cycles
    4. Spring bouncer
    5. Rails on tall climber (top of steps is coming apart and is rusted)
    6. Train
  7. Oil everything possible (we had one piece to freeze up because of rust)
  8. Spray round up on weeds in the rocks

Mission Council Meeting April 18

The next meeting of the Mission Council will be Monday, April 18, at 6:30 PM.  Written reports from mission chairs and other leaders should be submitted to the church office by the end of the day Monday, April 11, to be included in the meeting packet.  The April meeting packet will be emailed to Mission Council members on Wednesday, April 13.

VES Workday Postponed

The Vincent Elementary School workday, which had been set for April 16, has been postponed due to a scheduling conflict. We will let you know of a new date as soon as we get it on the calendar.  For now, you can support our friends at Vincent Elementary through our Backpack Buddies ministry and as we collect gifts for a "Shoe Tree" through our Blessing Boxes.

Blessing Boxes

Many of you have been filling Blessing Boxes with change throughout the year, and others will now begin to fill their boxes over the next few weeks.  Our Blessing Box funds in 2016 will support a “Shoe Tree” for Vincent Elementary School, providing footwear for students in need.  We will collect Blessing Boxes in worship on April 10, or you can leave them in the church office at any time.

Remember, prayer opens the door for opportunity.  Blessings expressed with your thanks give us the opportunity to give HOPE:

H:-Heavenly
O:-Omnipotent
P:-Powerful
E:-Everlasting Savior

In Christ's name,
Outreach Mission
Thank you, everyone, for all of the prayers, visits and cards during my prolonged hospital stay.  I am so happy to be back at my own home with my babies and continually improving. We are so blessed to be a part of this congregation.

Thank you!!
Molly Springfield

The church office is open 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Thursday.  The office will be closed on Fridays.  If you need to reach a pastor while the office is closed, please dial 205-295-6708 to reach the minister on call.
