Let's Deck the Halls Together!
Advent is approaching and we’d like to invite you to join us as we prepare our space, our family, and our spirit for the coming season. Sunday, November 23 we will “Deck the Halls” from 4:30-6:30 PM, so come bring your family and a crock pot of soup to share. Praise Kids will rehearse at 4:30 PM and when they are done will have the opportunity to make Chrismon ornaments. At 6:00 PM we will share a meal of soup (with cornbread and dessert provided by the church) and the joy of experiencing the coming of Advent together.
Debbie Blue Food Pantry
At First Christian Church through our Debbie Blue Food Pantry, we are committed to providing assistance to needy families and individuals – not just during this holiday season, but throughout the year.  We have more families seeking assistance than ever before.

Thank you to all those who have already given their gift of food to the pantry.  Of course, all donations are greatly appreciated and needed, but the emphasis is on canned meats: Ham, Spam, Treet, Chicken, Tuna, Vienna sausage, Beef Stew, Soups and Peanut Butter.

Your generous support in the past and today will insure we can continue this much needed outreach ministry.

Please bring your gift of food items to the Debbie Blue Food Pantry this Sunday, Nov. 16.

Steve Pasky, Outreach Mission Chair

Veteran’s Day, for the youth of FCC, was a unique opportunity to share Christ in a tangible way. We made 200 ham and turkey sandwiches, baked over 300 chocolate chip cookies, and headed downtown to give out lunches. As we walked around the streets of downtown Birmingham we experienced gracious spirits, thankful hearts, and unexpected joy. We encountered the Spirit in so many ways; we were truly blessed. Thanks for your prayers and support as we served and a special thanks to Libby Blue for providing bears for us to hand out to homeless children (and one older adult, who could not let go of her bear.) Together, we are learning what it means to love like Christ

Young At Heart
November 20 @ Huntsville's Lowe Mill
Calling all who are young at heart!  We are planning a trip to Huntsville’s recently remodeled Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment center on Thursday, November 20. We will gather at church at 9:00 am, travel to Huntsville, and eat lunch somewhere yummy. Then we’ll spend a couple of hours visiting the vendors with beautiful crafts and creations, just in time for some early Christmas shopping.  We should be back at church about 5:30 pm. The only cost of the trip is your lunch (and whatever goodies you decided to buy), but we do ask you to sign up though the church office so we can plan transportation.
If you have questions contact Robin or 205.991.5000
*** It is not too late to sign up, we have a few spots left!
Thank You!
Thanks to everyone who participated in our stewardship celebration on October 26. If you would still like to make an estimate of giving for 2015, you should have received a pledge card last week, or you can download one here; additional cards are available in the pews as well.  Feel free to place your card in the offering plate or return it to the church office during the week.  Thank you again for your generosity and faithfulness!
Welcome New Members
It is with great joy that we welcome Stephen and Sharon Chandley into our church family.

Congregational Meeting
Our  annual congregational meeting is Sunday, November 23, at the conclusion of morning worship.  All members are encouraged to be present as we consider the 2015 budget, recommendations from the Nominating Committee, and any other news business.
Do you have church pictures?
We are looking for recent pictures taken of ministries at FCC for our new directory. If you have high resolution pictures (taken with a digital camera) we’d love to have copies.  Email Robin Blakemore if you have questions or pictures to share!
