<<First Name>>,

Please join us on April 12 for the 2019 Metro DC Appraisal Conference. The event includes 7 hours of CE, 8 sessions, 13 presenters, breakfast, lunch and an open bar.

Henry J. Goodfriend MCR, President of the Goodfriend Global Group and Global Lead, Real Estate Transactions, Corporate Global Real Estate for The Estee Lauder Companies will open the conference with the Local Effect of Global Economics. Globalization has impacted nearly every aspect of modern life, including the valuation of real estate. Goodfriend will share specific insights on how these macroeconomic issues and trends affect valuation at the microeconomic level.

The Appraisal Institute's Director of Government Relations Bill Garber will follow up with an update on the legislative trends framing the area's real estate market and appraisal practices along with the latest news from the Appraisal Institute. He’ll be followed by two breakout sessions looking at Bright MLS and cutting-edge developments in report writing technology for commercial appraisers.

After lunch, Ryan McCormick, Senior Vice President & Counsel, Real Estate Roundtable will bring us up-to-date on the impact of the recently passed tax reform. Jim Park will then provide an update on a variety of issues from the Appraisal Subcommittee. Following Park, we’ll hear the latest on a number of metro DC area projects including the economic impact of the arrival of Amazon from renowned area economist, Dr. Stephen S. Fuller, Director, The Stephen S. Fuller Institute, Dwight Schar Faculty Chair and University Professor, The Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. Fuller will be joined by Victor Hoskins, Director, Arlington Economic Development who will share the inside details on the Amazon deal. Their Amazon presentation will be followed by construction plans for the Baltimore-Washington Maglev brought to you by David Henley, Project Director, Baltimore Washington Rapid Rail. Then we’ll complete the development session with an update on Metro DC Transportation from Steve Teitelbaum, Senior Real Estate Advisor - Office of Real Estate and Parking, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Invited).

The program will close with a thought-provoking look at Sustainable (Equilibrium) Value with George Mann CRE, National and International Review Appraiser, Mann & Mann, LLC. Sustainability issues are increasingly important in the appraisal and valuation of land and property. Mann will help appraisers better understand how to address these critical issues in their work.

We’ll end the day with a reception (including an open bar) where appraisers can assess the day’s discussion and re-connect with their metro DC colleagues.
