In Partnership with the Embassy of Israel and the Jewish Community of Guatemala

January 25 - March 26
Organized by Yahad-In Unum and the Holocaust Museum of Guatemala, in partnership with the Guatemalan Embassy of Israel and the Jewish Community of Guatemala, the first commemoration for International Holocaust Remembrance Day took place in Xela, Guatemala's second largest city, on January 25 at the Efrain Recinos Cultural Center. The commemoration coincided with the debut of the "Holocaust by Bullets" exhibit, which will be on display at the Efrain Recinos Cultural Center until March 26. During the inauguration, we had the honor of welcoming Israeli Ambassador to Guatemala Mr. Moshe Bachar, who spoke at the premiere, stating, ""We, as the Embassy of Israel, are glad to be part of our alliance with the first Holocaust Museum in Central America and the Ministry of Education. I was moved by this commemoration ceremony, thank you for not letting go of this memory and for your work in keeping memory alive...Never Again!" The team is enthusiastic to share the exhibit with a new community and to welcome even more visitors to our informative exhibit on the Holocaust by bullets.
Yahad-In Unum hosts visiting research fellows, sponsored by the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter
September - December 2016
Yahad-In Unum regularly welcomes scholars to conduct original research using our Holocaust by Bullets Video Archive. Between September to December 2016, we hosted two visiting scholars from Ukraine, Dr. Alexander Kruglov and PhD Candidate Volodymyr Zilinskyi. Dr. Kruglov's research focused on using Yahad's testimonies in Odesa and Mykolaiv, which were under Romanian occupation during World War II. Mr. Zilinskyi concentrated on testimonies of witnesses in Lviv, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine for a larger study of the Holocaust in Galicia. These fellowships were made possible by the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter within a partnership program with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
