A WORD FROM CEO - DANIEL LACEY

"November kicked off our busy period with a total of three meets. The first meet being on the 1st November at which we played host to the Diocese of Broken Bay, it was a great day but sadly no Gosford trained winners. This was quickly followed by our Melbourne Cup picnic meeting. This was a fantastic day with in excess of 1,600 people in attendance and over 800 people in pre booked hospitality packages. We have erected a new look marquee on the past the post lawn and this day was its first run. Complete with glass frontage, structural flooring and increased air conditioning the marquee was a great place to enjoy the day. We then wrapped up November with a Saturday meet on the 24th. This day past all expectations in terms of attendance and  on course activations with close to 2,000 people in attendance, they enjoyed another new marquee presented by Canadian Club along with a DJ, live bands, kids entertainment and all the racing that a Saturday brings. On the card was Gosford’s heat of the new Sky Racing Provincial Challenge, we had two runners in contention with Greg McFarlane’s ’Our Winnie’ and Jim Louzious’s ‘Donald Krupt’, ‘Our Winnie’ took out the race over 1600 with a cracking last 100m to finish just over a length in front of second placed ‘Cuban Royal’ trained by Robert & Luke Price with Theresa Bateup’s ‘Arrow’s Destiny’ taking the last spot in the final that was held at Kembla Grange on the 1st December. Kylie Gavenlock’s ‘Wild About Her’ also scored a win on the day in the 4th.

In other Gosford trainers news, Tony Newing’s ‘Charging Clear’ and ‘Man of Envy’ both scored wins in November at Kempsey and Dubbo respectively. Nick Mitchell also continued his winning run with ‘Directory’ at Quirindi.

The course proper has now undergone its annual renovation and is in superb condition and ready for the summer. The ProRide training track will also undergo a renovation in early November with a deep mix and significant additional binder being added, this will increase the cushion on the track surface.

To date the Racing NSW strategic plan has not been made public and I am yet to see the final content. I did mention in my last newsletter that the club will continue to press in order to gain assistance to improve our training & stabling infrastructure and that statement still stands.

Last month we announced a very exciting partnership with the Central Coast Mariners with all Gosford Race Club members being able to attend all Mariners home games for free. It is pleasing to see that many of our members are taking up this option and are cheering on the Mariners. To gain access all you have to do is scan your Gosford Race Club membership at the turnstiles and you will gain entry.

Switching to non race day functions, there were a few events of note, one being our second hosting of the ‘Scottish Spectacular’ this year saw much improved weather for the event and thousands turned up to watch marching bands, dancing and all things Scottish. We also held the ‘Australian Spirit’ event whereby services people were commemorated, there were tanks, memorabilia and jousting that made for a very interesting event.

I am pleased to announce that we have secured the very popular racing identity Jamiee Rogers to be our carnival ambassador. Jamiee is an event presenter on Sky Racing and will help promote our carnival.

We now move into December with our very popular Christmas picnic race meet on the 15th followed by the ‘Belle of the Turf’ + ‘Gosford Guineas’ on the 28th and the ever popular New Years Eve raceday. We have a new offering this year with our ‘Ladies Day’ marquee on the 28th, it’s sure to be a great event to attend, so arrange your friends and enjoy Group racing in our marquee."

A WORD FROM THE EVENTS TEAM - DAVID SHANAHAN

"November was another great start to our Summer months here at The Entertainment Grounds with 3 racedays in the month, including the Melbourne Cup picnic raceday which saw another meet, with over 1,600 people in attendance and over 800 of those in pre booked hospitality packages. Within the month, we also had another successful Night Markets with this month moving all food stalls and trucks into the infield, although the weather did its best to cap how many people attended with temperatures over 32 degrees up until 7:00pm – but a respectable 4,500 people still braved it to enjoy a great evening. November also saw staff Christmas parties happening and multiple mid-week meetings. The events team are certainly switching into high gear with a total of 21 events within the month!"

A WORD FROM THE TRACK MANAGER - STEPHEN SCOLLARD

"The recent rainfall has been a real bonus with the track in great condition and ready for the busy schedule aheaThe new fence on the Cusick lawn has been erected and looks great certainly a vast improvement on the old one our track boys managed to pull down the old fence and put up the new inside 3 days which is not a bad effort. I’d like to thank all my staff for their efforts and commitment this year and look forward to continuing that in the New Year."
