Star Gifts
We celebrate Epiphany today with "Star Gifts".
Each star has a word written on it with an invitation to let the word guide, inspire or challenge your living for the year.
Today's service with Communion was recorded with Rev. Nancy,
Rev. Carla & Julian Pattison.
Scripture Reading: Matthew 2: 1-12
We invite you to prepare a worship space in your home.
This week we will invite you to light a Christ candle when we light our candle during the service.
Note - Please bring bread and juice, crackers and tea or other kind of food and beverage to join in communion.
Join this morning's Worship.

2021 Star gifts will be available for “drive-thru pickup” from 12-2pm.

Friends,
It is with deep sadness we share with you that Monday, December 21st, Dilys Sostad chose to have a compassionate death at the North Shore Hospice. Her sons Christopher and Andrew, her sister Cynthia and I were able to be with her. Her daughter-in-law and dear friends Maureen and Susan gathered at the window. She received communion, was surrounded by words and gestures of love and care and quietly said her goodbyes.
Dilys asked that this message be shared with you: "Over the last several months I’ve been overwhelmed by the love and caring the congregation has shown me and my family. The food, the flowers, the phone calls and the good wishes not only to me but also to my sons and grandsons have been more than anybody can expect or anticipate. I want to thank you all for being there for me and my family when I needed you most. Mt. Seymour United Church has always been a large part of my life and now I know why. Thank you and from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all. Dilys”
Carla and I feel with you the large hole that Dilys’ absence leaves at the heart of our community. We offer each and everyone of you who are feeling deeply this loss our compassion and care. We have set up a makeshift memorial for her in the sanctuary of the church and invite those of you who are volunteering in the building to come by and pay your respects.
Due to the current public health orders there is no plan for an immediate gathering to honour Dilys’ life. We will inform you about any decisions the family makes regarding a celebration of her life as they become known.
Dilys had very much hoped to be with her family through Christmas. By late last week she no longer felt able to last that long. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her sons Christopher and Andrew and her grandsons Ryan and Evan and their extended family in this sad time.
Please feel free to call or email Carla or myself if you need a listening ear.
Nancy (and Carla)

Life is a succession of exclamations from
“Oh No!” to “Help” to “Oh Yes!”
As we enter the new year, we had hoped we would be past the “Oh No!” of 2020. Instead, we find ourselves with ongoing prayers for “Help!” The writers of the Psalms knows all about this.
Their sacred poetry will accompany us in this six week Sunday series reminding us that through it all, we can trust and even give a thankful
“Oh Yes!” because God is, indeed, holding our lives.
