From the President

I truly believe Fulton Elementary School is a special place! As PTA President, I would like to extend a warm welcome to new and returning families.  The PTA’s mission is:

To support and speak…

To assist…

To encourage…

As we embark on the 2017/2018 school year, I am extremely excited about new initiatives, as well as building upon some continued traditions.  We have already successfully hosted:

Sweet End of Summer at Tutti Frutti

Kindergarten Playdates, including the first weekend playdate, at the request of parents and guardians

Membership Drive and Spirit Wear at Open House

I look forward to meeting with you, whether for the first time or reconnecting this school year.  Our upcoming events include the following:

September 19th@6:30 PM Back to School Night and Budget Approval

September 26th@ 7PM PTA Meeting

September 29@ 6PM Fall Festival

Please know that the Executive Committee is here for you.  We welcome your ideas and encourage your support and involvement!  If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly or any of our Executive Board Members.

Wishing you and yours a successful school year!

Join the FES PTA

We encourage all families, staff, and teachers to join the FES PTA to become a part of the larger team. Great things happen when parents and teachers work together. The FES PTA supports students, teachers, and staff throughout the academic year. The support of the FES community allowed us to purchase books for the classrooms, iPad minis, STEM technology, and more for the students. We sponsor Fall Festival, International Night, and other activities for families. We celebrate our staff with luncheons, Staff Appreciation Week, Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and support them through a classroom supplies reimbursement program.

The annual PTA membership is $20 per family.  It is easy to join the Fulton Elementary School PTA. Complete the Membership Form and return it to your student's teacher or join online using Membership Toolkit

Attn:  Parents Who Ordered School Supply Kits

The school supply kits arrived last week and the PTA is aware that there are missing items. Teachers are aware and we are working with the kit company to have all missing supplies shipped directly to the school in the quickest manner possible. You WILL receive all of the items you paid for!
You DO NOT need to go out and buy them. We assure you we are doing everything we can to get ALL missing supplies to you in a speedy manner. Thank you for your patience as we work to address this issue!

Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance Legislation (APFO)

The PTA Council of Howard County (PTACHC) voted to take a position and an active role in the APFO legislative process. Why? Inadequate APFO regulations have allowed residential development to outpace infrastructure, ie adequate school capacity, in certain areas of the county.  We must address the cause of severely overcrowded schools and the use of temporary portable classrooms as permanent solutions.  Advocating for changes to proposed APFO legislation benefits students across the county and at all grade levels. PTACHC and local PTA/PTSA units can be active participants in holding elected officials accountable. Read more about APFO, important dates and PTACHC letter submitted earlier this summer to County Council.

We ask that each and every PTA/PTSA mobilize your respective communities in a call to action!

What can parents and students do?

  • Write an email to county council as described here
  • On September 11th, attend a rally (wear yellow) at 5pm and public hearing at 6pm at the George Howard Building.  Sign up to testify or provide written testimony.  Remember, County Council does not weigh in on redistricting decisions and attendance area adjustments per se. Testimony should focus on APFO as it relates to the current plans for Comprehensive Redistricting.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions and concerns!

PTACHC President

Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers

THANK YOU to our amazing committee chairs who worked hard to represent the FES PTA at the Open House. Thank You to Alison Wall (School Supply Kits), Amy Emad (Membership), and Joe Albanesi (Spirit Wear)!

THANK YOU to Abby K., Alison W., Laura B., and your children for the hours spent distributing school supplies to the classrooms!

THANK YOU to Amy E. and Shanna E. for the hours spent at the Membership table welcoming new and returning families to FES!

THANK YOU to Gwen M., Joanne O., Joe A., Mollie B., and Stephanie Y. for the hours spent at the Spirit Wear table helping families choose the perfect Falcon tees!

FES Drop Off and Pick Up Procedure

Crossing the campus road is very dangerous. The safety of our students and families is our first priority. There are many vehicles coming and going during the day. We have witnessed numerous “near misses” and will be strictly enforcing this procedure this year.

Below is a map showing the procedure for using the Reservoir High School parking lot to drop off or pick up students. All students and parents MUST use the Reservoir bus loop parking lot and the crosswalk to when dropping off or picking up. No one is allowed to use the parking lot near Route 216.

We appreciate your cooperation for the safety and well-being of the Fulton community.
