Notes From the President

Thank You!

I would like to thank Jaime Holmes and Christina Borleis for all their hard work with Staff Appreciation Week. It is a huge undertaking! I would also like to thank Christina Leary and Rochelle Weirich for working on the staff luncheon. It takes a lot of planning and hard work; it could not have been done without them.

A huge Thank You to Jenn Phillips and Erica Streitz for their commitment to Co-Chair the Boosterthon committee. The board is excited to see what you do!

If anyone else is interested in running, please email Cindy Johnson.

Committee Openings

We are in need of the following positions on the PTA for the 2015-2016 school year:
  • After School Programs - Make room reservations for after-school activities. Examples are Smashing Ants, How Girls Code, Drama Learning Center, etc.
  • Cultural Arts - Book two assemblies during the school year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Work with the administration to determine the type of events.
  • Spirit Wear - Take care of Spirit Wear orders in November and make sure students get their orders in December.
  • Hospitality - This committee takes care of the teachers. It plans and runs the Welcome Back Luncheon in August and provides the teachers with meals during fall conferences.
  • Spirit Night/ Dine Out Night - Schedule dinner nights out once a month with local businesses. Examples are Chick-fil-a, La Palapa, Kloby's, etc.
The PTA will guide interested parties in getting started on each committee. Please email Cindy Johnson for more information.

Thank you for supporting the Fulton Elementary School PTA!

Girl Scout Service Project: Operation Welcome Home

Fulton Elementary Brownie Troop 10161 and Daisy Troop 4341 are completing a service project in support of Operation Welcome Home, an organization that greets members of the military who are returning from overseas assignments. The girls will be collecting Thank You cards and store-bought prepackaged snacks for goodie bags to be presented to the military members upon arrival at BWI Airport.

You can support this service project by creating thank you cards or donating prepackaged snacks through Tuesday, May 19. A collection box is available in the Fulton Elementary lobby. If you have any questions, please contact Sherry Harms. For more information about Operation Welcome Home, please visit their website.

Tips for Cards:

- Please DO NOT date the cards or include full names or email addresses.

- The cards can be made from half of an 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper/card stock/construction paper. The paper can be cut in half, then folded like a card. OR, any size, even if it does not fold.

- In or on the card, a simple verse is good. Suggestions: Thank you for your service, Welcome Home, We appreciate your heroism, You Rock, Thank you for keeping us safe, Thank you for being there, Glad you are home, or God Bless America and You.

 - Embellishments of stars, hearts, flags, balloons, or any fun thing you want to put on the cards are great. Some folks use stickers, sponge stars, anything they have on hand.

 - PLEASE: Keep it positive and supportive–nothing negative.
