From the President

Welcome everyone to the 2016-2017 school year! It is hard to believe we are almost a month into the new school year already. We hope you enjoyed the Fall Festival last Friday Night. What a great turnout! It was great seeing everyone at Back to School Night this past Wednesday. As I mentioned, we have lots of things going on this school year and we will need lots of volunteers to help make these events successful for our students! Volunteer opportunities will be available for our Falcon Fun Run (October), Holiday Shoppe(December), International Night (February), and our Falcon Follies Talent Show (May). We like to see, as well as the students do, moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers and guardians lend a hand!
We are looking for volunteers to shadow, me this year to take on the President's role for next year. I no longer have a student here at Fulton but love it here so much that I could not leave them stranded. Preferably someone who has volunteered for events in the past. Please email me if interested in discussing what this position entails. We are also in need of a parent to help co-chair Fall Festival next year and shadow Patty Bottner with the Falcon Follies in May. She will be moving into Lime Kiln Middle School. We need someone to change the school sign out front by the road as well.
We are looking forward to a great school year this year! Hope to see you all volunteering at our events!

Cindy Johnson
President, FES PTA

Fall Festival Thank You

The Fulton Elementary School PTA is overwhelmed by the number of families who attended the Fall Festival. We're also overwhelmed by the number of volunteers who stepped up to make the festival happen. Some volunteers saw a need the night of the festival and volunteered on the spot!

Thank you to our Fall Festival Committee: Cindy Johnson, Patty Sawyer-Bottner, and Denise Smith! Thank you to Mr. English and the Art students over at Reservoir High School for lending us a hand and doing all the face painting. We love partnering with students right here on our "campus." Many people ask "Why should I join the PTA?"

The number one reason to join the Fulton Elementary School PTA (FES PTA) is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. FES PTA memberships in 2016 helped support the teacher reimbursement program, teacher luncheons, Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and more.  There are many more advantages to joining the FES PTA:
  • Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
  • Tap into a Network. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
  • Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.
  • Speak Up. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
  • Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
In an effort to be more green, we're asking our FES families to join online. If you prefer a paper form, it can be printed by clicking here.

Falcon Fun Run Fundraiser

Parents! This year's main fundraiser is Falcon Fun Run! It’s a 9-day program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on Tuesday, October 3rd. Then families will have time to get pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on Friday, October 14th. Our big goal is to raise funds for classroom libraries and equipment. The Fun Run experts at Boosterthon will organize and power our Falcon Fun Run to make it easier and more fun.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, BACKYARD BOX OFFICE! It’s a movie theme all about making a difference by getting into character. Our students will learn from five REAL kid difference-makers. From inventors, to world-class speakers, to business owners, to world-record holders, these five kids will inspire our students to practice the five “Character Acts” and make a difference in our community.
Donations will go toward your child’s future and to the entire 9-day experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Falcon Fun Run! Thank you for your support! Find out more about the 9-day experience.

Annual PTA Coat and Winter Accessory Drive

The Fulton Elementary School PTA along with Personnel Pupil Workers (PPW) of HCPSS will be conducting their annual coat drive from September 22nd to October 18thPPW provides supplies, clothing and other necessities to "at risk" children in the county. Please consider donating your gently used coats and cold weather accessories (gloves, mittens, hats) and help keep some needy children warm this winter. Adult sizes accepted too. The drop-off box will be at the front entrance outside the front office.

Become  a Falcon Patron

As we continue to support our outstanding instructional programs, teachers, students, staff, parents, and community, we will need to raise approximately $65 per student at Fulton Elementary this year.  To meet this goal, the FES PTA sponsors several fundraisers throughout the year.  We encourage parents and guardians to participate; however, we realize that many of you would prefer a more direct way to support the PTA.  The Falcon Patron program is a direct fundraising alternative that allows anyone to make a direct, tax deductible donation to the FES PTA.

By participating in the Falcon Patron program you can send a strong message to the community that you support our efforts to sustain an exceptional instructional program and provide support to the superb staff.  Your donation is TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Please consider a contribution in any amount that is comfortable for your family budget.

Select the link to download a form or you can make a direct donation online using PayPal.

News From Fulton Elementary...

Pets on School Property

While we love meeting your family dogs, all animals including leashed dogs are prohibited on school system property during arrival, dismissal and recess. If you walk your dog to pick up your child, please be sure to remain off Fulton Elementary School property. Service animals are permitted.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders

We have noticed more of our parents are parking in the Reservoir parking lot and crossing the very busy campus road near the car loop when dropping students off or picking them up during arrival and dismissal. This presents a very unsafe condition for our students.

We are asking for both students and parents to use the designated crosswalk to safely cross the street. We have staff present at the crosswalk to assist students across the street. You can always drop students off at the front of the school using the car loop.

We are providing a map showing the appropriate crosswalk to drop off or pick up your children from Reservoir High School parking lot.

**The red arrows indicate where you should turn around to get in the carpool line. You are not allowed to turn left directly into the carpool line as it holds up traffic.
