Jump Rope For Heart Is Back

In connection with the American Heart Association (AHA), students are given the option of raising money for Jump Rope for Heart. Students do NOT need to raise money to take part in our Jump Rope event, which will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2015. The AHA envelopes are being sent home with students throughout the week. There are extras for those who did not take one. Students do NOT need to return the permission slips to participate in our fund raising event.

If you and your child discuss this option and want to raise money, please fill out the main envelope form, collect the money (preferably online), and return the envelope to the PE teachers by Thursday, April 9th. It is preferred that money is raised ONLINE at www.heart.org/jump because of the new Bonus Prizes who will be awarded throughout the fundraiser to the students that raise money online or turn in the coupon for the First Donation duck “Splatter.” If money is raised ONLINE please remember to print the “Donation Report” and include it in the donation envelope. The other option is to pay in the form of CHECKS made out to THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH. Don’t forget that if your child raises $50 or more, they’ll receive a T-shirt, so please mark your child’s SIZE on the envelope.

Once again, the money is due Thursday, April 9th the day of our special Jump Rope for Heart event!
The schedule for Jump Rope For Heart on Thursday, April 9th will be:
4th Grade – 9:45-10:45
5th Grade – 10:45-11:45
3rd Grade – 11:45-12:45
Kindergarten – 12:45-1:45
2nd Grade – 1:45-2:45
1st Grade – 2:45-3:45

If you have any questions please email Katie Howell (Kaitlin_Howell@hcpss.org), Casey Geyer (Casey_Geyer@hcpss.org), or Josh Griffis (Joshua_Griffis@hcpss.org).

Coffee & Conversation

The Board of Education of Howard County regularly holds Coffee & Conversation sessions at schools throughout the county. These meetings provide citizens with an opportunity to share a cup of coffee and chat informally with Board members. The meetings are held in various regions of the county but interested persons from throughout the county are invited to attend any or all of the meetings.

The next Coffee & Conversation With the Board of Education will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Elkhorn Middle School Media Center (6680 Cradlerock Way, Columbia).
