Pre-Calculus

Pre-calculus is one of those courses which historically challenges some of our student veterans. The good news is there are various sources of help for this particular class including:
  • Division of Academic Enhancement (DAE): DAE offers both drop-in and appointment-based tutoring.  To learn more click here
  • Math Department Walk-in Hours: The Math Department sponsors Study Halls (Rm 221 and 222), study guides, and access to paid tutors
  • VA Funds for Tutoring:  The VA will pay up to $100 a month for a tutor.  See attached form and instructions.
  • Special Review: Professor Kel Black, Math Department, has agreed to host a special review for veterans before their three scheduled exams. If interested, please RSVP so we can notify you when the sessions are formalized.
    • 4:30-5:30 Wednesday Sep 12th
    • 4:30-5:30 Tuesday Oct 9th
    • 4:30-5:30 Tuesday Nov 13th
NOTE: If you find yourself struggling, think twice before you withdraw! Drop Back courses allow students who may be having difficulty in MATH 1101/1113 to move from that course into a course that will prepare them to succeed in the core course in the future. To learn more click here.

Student Veteran Leadership Opportunity (All Majors)

The Office of the Dean of Students is seeking one undergraduate student veteran to be a voting member of the UGA Student Technology Fee Advisory Committee (STFAC). Student input and feedback regarding the uses of STF funds is vital to maintaining a transparent open process for receiving, reviewing and responding to requests for technology-related funds. Last years, these tech-fee funds were valued at almost $5M. As such, attendance is mandatory at the six meetings planned for the academic year. Click here to see the 2018-19 meeting schedule.

If interested, please email svrc@uga.edu or stop by our office to sign up. All names must be submitted by email or in person by COB August 15, 2018.
