UGA Student Veteran Stories:
As we all know, UGA students come from all different walks of life. To better highlight the diversity of UGA’s students, UGA is soliciting nominations to spotlight student veterans on the main UGA webpage.
Here’s an example:
- Jason is a USAF veteran majoring in Comparative Literature and English. When not studying Jason plays guitar for the band Grassland across the SE region.
If interested in sharing your story, simply submit two sentences as structured above to SVRC@uga.edu.

VETConnect Student Volunteers:
This new pilot program is designed to help ease the transition of new undergraduate student veterans transferring to UGA by connecting them to currently enrolled veterans who have similar backgrounds or academic interests.
This initiative would serve to complement our special orientation session for undergraduate veterans and our Transition Coaching Program, which connects our first-semester students to volunteer faculty/staff. We envision that each student volunteer, would at a minimum, send a welcome e-mail and, if needed, help answer any questions. Our goal would be to establish this informal buddy system about a week before the start of Fall classes.
