Meet & Greet (Wednesday 7 September):

The Student Veterans Association (SVA) and SVRC are partnering to sponsor the Fall Meet and Greet on 7 September from 4:30 to 5:30 in the foyer outside the SVRC. Food will be provided by Tazikis and all Student Veterans, Transition Coaches and Liaisons are invited to attend.

PIVITU Launch:

The SVRC is excited to announce a new career preparation opportunity, facilitated by PIVITU (a non-profit), for all student veterans and their spouses.

Interested student veterans will be assigned a no-cost PIVITU coach, who will work 1:1 with you to establish a personalized brand and a targeted career path. This initiative complements and amplifies the work already being done by the UGA Career Center and our related Mentoring Programs. Candidates, with the exception of spouses, must meet the following criteria:
  • Completed at least one semester of study at UGA in good academic standing
  • Previously met with a UGA college or career consultant; and
  • Have a job-ready resume available for review
Interested?  Contact svrc@uga.edu for more information or to apply.

American Corporate Partners:

Again this year, we are partnering with the non-profit organization, American Corporate Partners, to offer student veterans a one-year mentorship with a well-placed professional in one of America’s top corporations. Previously UGA Student Veterans have leveraged this program to great effect to include:
  • Establishing a professional network consistent within their new discipline
  • Learning about internship/career opportunities from the inside out
  • Framing a viable path that bridges school to career
Interested?  Contact svrc@uga.edu for more information or to apply.

SVA logoFirst Student Veterans Association (SVA) Meeting:

Immediately following the Sep 7th Meet and Greet the SVA will host its first meeting of the semester in the lounge. Stop by, meet some fellow veterans and see how you can put your leadership experience to great use.

FAFSA/FINANCIAL AID:

There is so much to do at the beginning of each semester, that it’s easy to forget some annual requirements.  We want to remind everyone to complete your Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) for academic year 2016-2017.

Financial assistance is available in many different forms, and the FAFSA is the tool UGA uses to determine need and eligibility for federal financial aid. The online application wizard can be found at www.FAFSA.gov.
