Spring Graduates and Honor Cords

Congratulations Graduates! We are proud of your accomplishments and wish you continued success.  Graduates had the option to have their photographs taken with Dean McDonald presenting their Honor Cords. We hope you will enjoy the video below, created to honor our graduates.

For the month of May, we will be recognizing those graduates who registered to receive an Honor Cord (view the program here) on the SVRC website.

Last week we mailed the formal program with a red, white, and blue honor cord to all our May 2021 graduates who signed up with our office. As a reminder, our December 2021 graduates can pick up their honor cords at our Veterans Week Reception in November.

Summer Semester and VA Benefits

For those taking classes this summer, please double check with the SCO to ensure you understand how many hours (based on term and length) are considered full-time. Full- time status during the summer has historically been an area of confusion.

Residency Waivers

Recall if you have a residency waiver, as you will need to resubmit the residency waiver form each semester but you are not required to provide the supporting documents moving forward. Your waiver may take a full business day to take effect.
UGA Emergency Funds

If you need financial assistance moving forward into summer semester, UGA's Student Emergency Fund remains available to provide limited, one-time financial assistance to enrolled students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of a temporary hardship related to an emergency situation.
Virtual Legal Assistance

The Georgia Veterans Outreach Project will host two free, virtual legal clinics this summer.
  • June 5, 2021 - Northwest Georgia (Dalton Region)
  • July 10, 2021 - Northeast Georgia (Gainesville Region)
The clinics connect veterans in Georgia with lawyers for quick advice on most civil legal issues. This is not a webinar. Lawyers will provide brief service on issues that include veterans and military benefits, family law, housing, and other civil legal issues.

Improve Your Time Management Skills

Time management is one of those important work and life skills that seems to find its way into every job interview and performance review. It is actually comprised of multiple skills — so you can have aptitude in different areas — and you can absolutely improve them to make yourself more productive, get stronger performance reviews, and find better work-life balance.
