Military-Friendly Employers Looking to Hire at Career Fair:

Of the 244 companies registered for the Sep 19th Career Fair, 187 self-identified as being “military-friendly (MF)” and indicated they were interested in recruiting student veterans for internships/FT jobs.

LAST CALL Spring Food Scholarships:

If you are barely making ends meet and sacrificing a balanced diet to do so, consider applying for a UGA Food Scholarship.   Most semesters, one or more deserving veterans participate in this beneficial Student Affairs Program. 

LAST CALL SVRC Scholarships:

Completing a single SVRC scholarship application will allow you to compete for approximately 35 SVRC Fall awards valued at nearly $20,000.

LAST CALL: Wells Fargo Treasury Management Program:

The Wells Fargo Treasury Management Program is a full-time job program open to all high-performing student veterans. Openings are now being filled for December and May graduates.

LAST CALL: Early Access to Career Fair Employers:

This Career Center sponsored Diversity/Inclusion event provides an exclusive opportunity for underrepresented groups, like student veterans, to connect with employers immediately prior to participating in the Career Fair on Sep 19th.

Want to Work in or with the Federal Government?

The pathway to all jobs, particularly Federal jobs, is through a relevant internship. 

UGA’s Washington Seminar Program is the only Washington D.C. based program offered to undergraduate students.  This comprehensive program combines coursework and internships with a residential living environment. This program may be an ideal complement to a criminal justice, international affairs, or political science majors.
The application process includes the application, resume, and personal statement. Once selected, the WSP will assist you in finding an internship in the DC area.

Diversity/Inclusion Internship Panel

On Sep 26 from 5:30-7:00, several organization will present internship opportunities geared for diverse students, like veterans.

LAST CALL: National Security Leadership Opportunity: 

The Center for International Trade and Security (CITS) is accepting applications for the Richard B. Russell Security Leadership Program (SLP). This program is open to ALL majors interested in national security or national security policy, regardless of academic background.

Funding your Study Abroad:

Many student veterans are exploring study abroad opportunities. If there are funding gaps, UGA's Experiential Learning Office offers scholarships that may help offset shortfalls funding for internships and/or study abroad classes.

New UGA Career Center Veterans Liaison

With Lisa Mann’s departure, we are welcoming Dan Felts to UGA and to his new role as our Veterans Liaison to the Career Center. After working with one of our SVRC Readiness Coaches to craft a viable resume (VMOC > 75), we suggest you visit with Dan for a second look.  Getting multiple perspectives on a resume is a great technique, which will help inform your long-term resume writing strategies.   If you are already working with one of our Readiness Coaches they will connect you to Dan or call 706-542-3375 to schedule an appointment.

2018 Military Appreciation Game Day Moto Photos and Veterans Week Reception:

Student veteran jumbotron photoDo you have a great photo from your time in the military? If so, then please send the picture to us and we’ll display it on the new Sanford Stadium JUMBOTRON during the UGA Military Appreciation Game on Saturday, November 17th. Additionally, we’ll display your image in the Tate Student Center Atrium and on the close-circuit TVs during the week of Veterans Day.

NOTE:  In recognition of Veterans Day, we will also sponsor our annual Veterans Week Reception in Tate.  The reception is scheduled for Nov 8th from 4:00-5:30 in the Tate Reception Hall (first floor).  During the reception, we’ll:
  • Recognize our Fall Award/Scholarship recipients
  • Host a drawing for a Coach Smart autographed Sanford Stadium picture **
  • Host a drawing for a Coach Smart autographed football **
  • Present up to 300 anticipated UGA vs UMASS tickets **

  • What: Overview of Sandia, the opportunities available to veterans at Sandia, and how to pursue them
