Rose Petals and Nettles Bring Us Joy!

Yesterday was another busy farm woofer (volunteer worker) day.  There were 6 of us scurrying about throughout the day.  So much to get done with extra hands and certainly not enough time to do it all.  And of course there's the long list of indoor chores waiting and an even longer list of Alice's Kitchen tasks to take care of. Yet Amy suggested that we could make time for she and two of our cherished woofers to harvest stinging nettles and rose petals.

We can, we must make time, when that moment presents itself, to do those small things that will continue to nourish us throughout the year.  Tonight when Amy walked into the house after a long, hard day of outdoor work, her tired face broke out into an ear-to-ear grin.  "What smells so good?" she asked.  And then she remembered the rose petals.  Her hand brushed the stinging nettles where they hung to dry, and she got immediate shivers running up and down her spine, from the sting.  It was both an unpleasant AND delightful sensation.  Amy imagined a cold winter's night next year when we'll be sitting by the fire drinking our nourishing tea.  And we both grinned.  And felt grateful for the herbs and foods that will nourish us (and many of you!) this winter, for our hard-working woofers, and for those moments when we can harvest the richness of life.

May we all enjoy another week filled with delicious foods, beautiful plants, rainy skies, warm sunshine, time with friends, and more sweet dreams.  Blessed Be!
