Cookin' Up A Storm!  Joy in the Kitchen!

Although my gratitude for the blessings in my life weaves into the fabric of my daily life, this time of year brings a heightened awareness of how fortunate I am.  I could write many pages about all the things for which I feel grateful, but what I'll share with all of you is my gratitude for being able to do the work which brings me the greatest joy.  I thank all of you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the ways you support the work of Alice's Kitchen.  You read these newsletters, order weekly food, give our food to family & friends, stop by and see what we're up to, attend our special events, and make donations.

I'd like to take a few moments to talk about the donations we receive to support our work.  In addition to the food that many of you purchase, we prepare food each week for members of our community who will benefit from receiving nourishing, delicious foods.  We donate food to friends and neighbors who are experiencing financial hardship, medical crises, other personal hard times and to families celebrating the arrival of new babies or family members. We donate food to community events.  So far this year we have donated (over and above all outside contributions) over $6,000 worth of food to community members.  Many of you support this work in a myriad of ways.  Some of our Community Supported Foods members donate a week's share to someone in need when they need to miss a week's delivery.  Some of you help with kitchen and garden chores.  Some of you purchase food credit for a specific friend or neighbor going through difficult times.  And others make outright financial contributions.  We are grateful for every bit of support.

When it comes up in conversation, many of you respond that you've not been aware of this aspect of our work/community service and ask how you can help.  You can support this work several ways. For those of you who order food, I've added donation check boxes to the order form; you can donate once or you can donate every time you order.  You can purchase gift certificates for specific people whom you know will benefit from receiving our food.  And you can contact me if you'd like to donate in other ways.

Not back to the really fun for Thanksgiving!  We anticipate great satisfaction in helping many of you with your Thanksgiving meals.  We have offerings for the busy day before, the feast on Thanksgiving, and the days after.  We can help!  We've almost doubled our typical menu offerings, so you have a great variety to choose from, with loads of extra side dishes and a few extra desserts and breakfast items.  FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!  Order early!!  As usual, orders are due in by the end of Saturday and will be ready to pick up by 4:00 on Tuesday.  I'll let you know, as soon as possible, if I'm unable to fill your request.

It is a joy to provide delicious, nourishing, and beautiful foods, prepared with care and love, for our community.
