After our deliveries/pick-ups next week, we have ONE more week (Dec. 13) of this cycle! That will bring our 2nd year of Alice's Kitchen to a close. Wow it's been quite an adventure. So many lessons learned, moments of joy, delicious flavors and delightful memories.
* Important lesson: it takes a LONG time to portion and clean up from 300 containers of food!
* Joyful moment: nearly every moment in the kitchen. I love it when I'm alone in the kitchen late at night on Monday and I slip into "the zone". Not in thinking mode...just pure cooking bliss.
* Delicious flavor: the first taste of rhubarb mousse, Carly's chicken-of-the-woods mushrooms, and a particularly delicious vegetarian chili with melted jack cheese and cool sour cream.
* Delightful memories: Amy P. and Rachel doing the Mexican Hat Dance to a You Tube video late on a Monday night. The intimacy of delving into the taste of a dish with Carly to figure out what might make it even more delicious. Amy T. baking countless cookies, cakes, and muffins; giving her best attention to each and every one. Amy P. rolling crusts and me assembling Roasted Squash Turnovers for the gagillionth time, elbow-to-elbow, side-by-side. Any of our weekly Monday "family lunches" when we take a full hour to celebrate food and friendship. Waltzing across the kitchen with my sweetie on yet another late night.
