Message from the Women Build Committee Chair
One of the best things about volunteering for Habitat for Humanity is getting to know the partner families as you work with them to build their new homes. And the best thing about being the Women Build Committee Chair is being the person who gets to hand over the keys to the brand new home once it is complete.
On Friday, March 22, I had the honour to participate in the Key Ceremony for Jenn and her family. Jenn is a hard working single mother of four who entered into partnership with Habitat to provide for a better life for herself and her children. Partner families go through a rigorous selection process and must complete 500 hours of sweat equity (volunteer work) prior to house possession. Not an easy task when you are working two jobs and raising your family.
