Thanksgiving Weekend Tree Planting
Saturday, November 28

Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve would like to invite the community to once again help Mother Nature extend her Monterey Pine forest.

Join us Saturday, November 28, from 9:00 am until about Noon for our annual Thanksgiving Weekend tree planting. We will be planting about 250 Monterey Pines on the West Ranch just off of the Ridge trail near the Burbank-Little bench. Everyone should meet at the Huntington entrance to help. Please park on Huntington Street or Guildford Street, being considerate of the residents by not parking in front of their mailboxes. Carpooling with friends would be great! All ages and levels of help are welcome. The work involved varies from very light chores to digging duties...or just stop by to enjoy the Ranch and keep us company!

The plantings will be photographed, monitored and nurtured by FFRP as part of our commitment to the community.

One of our goals is to foster a love of nature in local students and we welcome them to join us in planting trees. Students at all levels may attend and, by becoming involved in our local landscape, it is our hope they will develop a stronger relationship to the natural world.

We hope this event will serve as another way for all of us, as a community, to make a stronger connection with this land we call the Ranch, and to each other. So please join your fellow Cambrians in celebrating Thanksgiving and Earth’s bounty (while working off a little of your Thanksgiving feasting). Bring water, and if you can, gloves and a shovel to become part of this Cambria tradition.

For more information or directions, call Jo Ellen at the FFRP office, 927-2856, or email

Songs for the Seasons
Saturday, December 12th

Please join Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve for an afternoon of holiday music on Saturday, December 12 from 2:00 until 4:30 pm at the Fogs End Barn, 2735 Main St. in Cambria.

Seasonal favorites will be provided by Ron Perry—vocals, hammer dulcimer and keyboard, and Mary Schwalbe—vocals and acoustic guitar. Both musicians have professional music backgrounds, mostly in southern California. Mary and Ron met on the Ranch, Mary doing invasive weekly weed removal and Ron stopping to find out how he could volunteer. They discovered their shared musical interest and have been playing together ever since.

Champagne and wine bar, holiday desserts, and great raffle prizes will round out the afternoon’s entertainment.

Come and celebrate the season and support the Ranch. Tickets, $15.00, are available at the Cambria Chamber of Commerce, the FFRP office located at 604 Main St., and at the door.

Our somewhat regular
open-to-the-public hours are:

Friday 11 am - 2 pm
Saturday 11 am - 3 pm

Stop on by to get Ranch info from a docent, check out our large maps and images of the Ranch, pick up trail maps, join or donate to FFRP, or shop for shirts, caps, aprons, books, and greeting cards.

As more and more visitors and locals come to our new office location, we are in need of docents to welcome these visitors, provide Ranch information, sell Ranch merchandise, as well as take in FFRP memberships and donations. Occasionally there are other office jobs for docents to do while on shift.

Currently we need the following days covered: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The ideal shift is 11:00 am to 2:00 or 3:00 pm, however should you only be available for 2 hours, a 4-hour shift could be shared with another docent.

Please contact Jo Ellen at (805) 927-2856 or if you are interested in and willing to become an office docent.
