Can You Help Film Clown Alley Graduation April 8 for A Documentary?

At left, Village clowns did a madcap segment several years ago for the Video Club's "Never Too Late to Date" TV game show.

Camera operators are needed this Saturday to provide additional footage for a documentary being made of the Laguna Woods Senior Clown Alley and their clown graduation ceremony, noon-3 pm, in Clubhouse 6.  David Bukstein, grandson of residents Paul and Selma Bukstein, is the filmmaker..(Paul's is a member of the Video Club.) Video One member and Wednesday Video Lab Supervisor Andy Cullinane has already volunteered to be one of the camera operators.

David is a recent University of Texas film school graduate who plans to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry after his present stay with the Buksteins. He's making a short independent film on our Clown Alley (the largest senior clown organization in the world) and may use the finished video, which he is self-financing, to expand the project later into a larger film on clowns.

Video Club members and friends are also invited to attend the clown graduation, which is open free to residents and their guests, to grab incidental smartphone or other video footage for David from the audience -- and to enjoy the event. David described his clown video project to Video Club members on March 16, when he attended our General Meeting with his grandparents. He has been following several resident clowns in the current class and plans to do additional interviews after the graduation to complete his film.

If you'd like to help, please call or email David,, 512-947-0713.
