N2L2D Needs Tech & Audience Support August 3 & 12 (see below)
Steve Is on the Mend!

After a catastrophic fall in the shower on an Alaskan cruise ship May 24, Video Club President Steve Carman is -- in the words of his wife (and Club Secretary) Joan Carman -- "recovering nicely and regaining strength while he continues physical therapy." Steve and his extended family were on the first day of a vacation cruise when the accident occurred. "We left our house (in the Village) May 23 and got back July 23," Joan reports.

Steve was air-lifted from Ketchikan to Seattle for an extended hospital stay, then air-lifted home to a Kaiser hospital, followed by physical therapy in Costa Mesa. "All the tubes are out and now they are addressing Steve's original injury, a broken neck," says Joan.

Previously major complications, including pneumonia and inability to swallow, dominated Steve's treatment. Three times the family was called to his bedside when he was not expected to survive, and doctors told Joan that if her husband lived, he would "spend the rest of his life in a nursing home."

"They didn't know Steve!" Joan comments, adding, "We are very thankful for what seems like a miraculous recovery."

So miraculous, in fact, that Steve may join Joan in attending the Video Club's next Board Meeting this Thursday, August 4, where Vice President Tom Nash, who has been leading the club in Steve absence, will preside.

A Message from Phil Doran

and Facilitator of our new Video One video production group. For more information on the "Never Too Late to Date" show currently in production or to participate in Video One, please contact Phil at or 949-421-9788.

"Dear staff, crew, talent, friends, and Video Club Members:

After completing the shooting of our last episode of Never Too Late to Date we concluded that, although the game itself played great, we were not satisfied with the opening and closing sequences. So we're re-shooting those with a new MC, Cyndee Whitney, who is relatively new to our community but whose personality really sparkles on screen.
Please join us to help fill production functions and generally provide support and comfort as we all pull together to make this show as good as we know it can be.

Reheasal/Run-Thru without contestants:
Wed, August 3rd - 12:00pm to 2:00pm - Video club studio

Tech rehearsal and shooting:
Fri, August 12th - 10:00am to 12:00pm - Channel 6 studio A

Thanks for being there for us,"
