Brad Hudson, Lori Moss to Discuss Future of Channel 6 and Future of Video Club Facilities at November 17 General Meeting
Chapman University documentary film faculty member Sally Rubin will be unable to speak at our Thursday, November 17, General Meeting as previously announced, but will be rescheuled early next year. What looked like a last-minute emergency, however, turned out to be a timely opportunity! With major changes to Channel 6 under discussion -- with new video production links being developed between our Video One group and Channel 6 -- and with the future of our club facilities suddenly in play -- we are delighted to announce a new program for November 17!.
The future of Channel 6 and the Clubhouse 2 Annex, which houses the Video Lab and Studio, will be discussed by Brad Hudson (left), CEO of VMS Inc, and Community Manager Lori Moss (below) at our upcoming General Meeting, open to all members, residents, and their guests without charge in the Video Lab. Snacks and socializing at 6:30 pm, program at 7. Brad outlined his vision for our community's TV channel with a detailed presentation on October 26 before the GRF Media & Communication Committee, calling for more and better community-oriented programming and a new name, Village TV, or VTV, plus other changes.
The Annex, once slated for demolition in the Clubhouse 2 renovation plans, has been tested and the buildings deemed worth preserving and renovating as a continuing home for the Video Club.. Vice President Tom Nash, who has designed several video studios in his college teaching career, has been asked to prepare plans to meet our facility needs. SCHEDULING SNAFU CAUSED CHANGES
Awards Banquet Set for Sunday, February 19, Video Contest Deadline Is Friday, January 27
A snafu in Recreation Department scheduling for the Video Club's Annual "Academy Awards" Banquet left Banquet Chair Barbel Dagostino (below) with a dilemma last week..When she checked with Recreation to learn which room had been assigned per the application we filed last spring for our banquet on Saturday, February 25, Barbel was told that they had nothing scheduled for us and nothing available that day!! Amazingly, with next year's crowded calendar, Barbel was able to get a large enough room on a February weekend -- and also to secure our new caterer, Jolanda, for the new date! The 7th Annual "Academy Awards" Banquet will be held on Sunday, February 19, in Clubhouse 3, Dining Room 1. More details to follow.
Since the new date is six days sooner, the previously-announced deadline for the Annual Short Video Contest had to be moved back a week as well Please mark your calendars. The 2016 Contest deadline is 4 pm Friday, January 27, in the Video Lab. The box for contest entry DVDs is now in place in the Video Lab with at least one entry already in it! Chairing the contest again this year is Roland Harrison (left), walt_herd@hotmail.com, 949-830-6803.
