Hope's Path Work Day

Our grand opening day is approaching fast! Construction workers and landscapers have been hard at work to get us ready for our opening next month! Our work day is October 22nd, less than 1 week away! We still have some decorating, landscaping, and organizing that needs to be done. Volunteers of all ages are invited to help.
If you are interested in participating, please HERE to register!

The Community is invited to join in on the all of the fun activity beginning @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.

This is Adam & Katti's fifth year running the race. They are currently organizing their team known as Baby Steps for Hope's Path and would love to have as many people on the team as possible to help increase the amount of money raised for Hope's Path.

The race will take place on November 19th in New Braunfels and is known as the prettiest race in Texas! For more information, go to http://newbraunfels.chosenevents.org.

Welcome Chelsey!

Hope's Path would like to give a big welcome to Chelsey, our newest program participant who will be joining our Hope's Path Host Home family program on Friday, October 7th!
Chelsey is a beautiful young lady who, at 20 years old not, has aged out of foster care in Harris County. She is currently attending Lone Star College while working part time, and has purchased her own car. Unfortunately, she is not making enough money to rent her own apartment at this time, as she is serious about continuing to pursue a college degree. Without a host family, she would be living on the streets (sleeping in her car). We would like to extend immense gratitude to her wonderful host family and all of the host families with children in situations similar to Chelsey's. Thank You!

My First Three Days in Foster Care and My Advice to Foster Parents

by Jenna Thornburg
"I was a gypsy who never learned how to stay in one place with one set of people, because that just wasn’t my life. If you want to hear more of my story, stay tuned. I’d love to share more with you in the weeks to come. It gets better, I promise.
Fast forward 16 years, and there I was, a foster mom. My husband and I took the classes, met with like-minded people, shared stories, and had high hopes to make a difference: to be the change we wanted to see."

"Being a foster parent can feel like you’ve stepped into a crazy world, one where you have no idea what the best move is at every turn. Everyone helping a child in need is a hero in my book, and I hope that together we can learn more and do better all the way around."

Host Homes needed for Girls!
Hope's Path officially began the "Host Homes" extension program for former female foster youth. If you have considered opening your home and family to temporarily assist a young foster youth we would LOVE to have you be a part of our program!! NO LICENSING or government regulations required!
Remember these are young ladies 18-25 years old who are without a safe place to live. They are statistically likely to be homeless and exposed to crime, and sex-trafficking among so many other horrible outcomes that God did not purpose for them. We are not all called to foster or adopt, but we believe we are all called to do SOMETHING!
Is this something you can do? If so, please contact Jeremiah.Belyeu@HopesPath.org.

Students in foster care have been officially added as a provisional enrollment group regarding immunization records by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

TEC § 25.002(g) permits students in DFPS managing conservatorship to be enrolled immediately without the required records. The immunization portion of the law is governed by Texas Department of State Health Services. At times, this created un-intentional barriers and confusion concerning enrollment for students in foster care who sought enrollment without immunization records. Fortunately, this has been remedied.
