Loving Volunteers Answer the Call

On Monday April 18th, most of us woke up with flooded roads and flooded homes.  This was the first such storm for Hope’s Path and all of us were unsure what impact the high waters would have on our home and surrounding neighbors.  Unfortunately, many of our neighbors experienced flooding into their homes, although Hope’s Path home was completely spared.  The blessing God gave us in sparing the home provided us all a greater understanding of our need to be loving servants to our neighbors.  We put out a notice through our volunteer database system that our neighbors needed help.  Within hours we had a team of volunteers who assisted Hope’s Path in cleaning up our neighbors’ yards and flooded homes.   God provided a rainbow of hope for us to build loving relations with our neighbors within a terrible storm.  Thank you and blessings to those who came out in our time of need.  (If you would like to become a part of our volunteer database, please go to https://hopespath.org/volunteer/ to register.)
APRIL 2016 DONATIONS

  • Hope's Path would like to thank ITT Technical Institute for donating eight computers that are being refurbished with new hardware and software needed for the home. We greatly appreciate this generous donation!
  • All of the supplies for the new roof needed have been donated by MBCI and Bruce Green! We have been so blessed by this donation in connection with the donation of the home by Emerus Hospitals!  GOD IS SO GOOD!!
Program Updates

  • We have officially accepted our first young adult at Hope’s Path who will enter our program at Phase III and give us a chance to pilot the program while the house is still being built.  Jody is a 23 year old young man who aged out of extended foster care and has been living and working in various settings since.  Jody’s dream is to get into the military or law enforcement and one day have his own business teaching and training people in self-defense, safety, and security tactics.  If you are interested in learning more and being a part of Jody’s launch team please send an email to Jeremiah Belyeu at jeremiah.belyeu@hopespath.org.
  • Our partnership with The Open Table is now official and their model will serve as our primary mentoring program.  We will be actively meeting with church partners and groups who are interested in hosting mentoring tables for each of the youth in the home.  In the coming months we will have an informational meeting in which you can learn more about participating in this exciting program.  For more information about The Open Table please visit www.theopentable.org .
  • Hope’s Path continues to be met with such excitement and support in the greater Montgomery County community and continues to build relationships with partnering organizations to better serve our young adults.  Love Foster’s Hope has agreed to assist with training and orientation for new volunteers.  We have also engaged in discussions with Community Youth Outreach to determine ways in which our young adults can utilize their existing driver’s education training as well as explore potential sharing with Angel Reach’s life skills resources.  In addition, Hope’s Path is working with Sam Houston State University and their Forward Program to provide an online or hybrid College Success course to ensure all Texas’ foster youth can ‘lock in’ their tuition waiver.
  • We are continuing to meet and search for strategic community partners, business leaders, and trade workers in the community who are interested in training and employing our young adults in successful career paths in a variety of areas.  If you are interested in partnering with us in this area please reach out to Terri Jaggers (Executive Director) or Jeremiah Belyeu (Program Director) to set up a meeting.
WELCOME THOMAS & KIRSTYN MARTINEZ!

We are excited to welcome Thomas and Kirstyn Martinez who have recently been named the House Shepherds of our men’s transitional home in Spring, Texas.  They are an amazing young couple with a huge passion for working with young adults in foster care.  Thomas and Kirstyn have been camp counselors, mentors, and host home parents with Love Fosters Hope for the last few years and are very excited to carry on their ministry with us at Hope’s Path.

FAREWELL EMILY SCHIMCEK!

We would love to say a big thank you and farewell to our Sam Houston State University spring intern, Emily Schimcek.  Emily is a junior at SHSU majoring in Victim Studies and has been instrumental in reach out to volunteers to organize our database as well as construct and distribute our monthly newsletters.  In the short time Emily has been a part of our family, we have all grown to love her and she will be missed.  We are excited however that we will be welcoming Kianna Taylor as our summer intern.  Kianna will continue to carry out the efforts started by Emily.
