Album Release & 2020 New Year's Resolution!
Today is the first day of 2020. I'm thinking about last year and reflecting back. Last year, I finished recording my album Ordinary Love, we got a puppy (Lucy), I played several of my favorite festivals (Kerrville, Rocky Mountain, and Sisters), we got a puppy, I re-branded myself on Spotify as Ellis Delaney (why? There are lots of artists named Ellis! Who knew?!) ... did I mentioned that we got a puppy? :)
Every year I pick a word to focus on as my new year's intention. For 2020 the word I'm choosing is humility. I have learned a lot about my own weaknesses in the past year, that I can be too self-involved and not follow through on my commitments. That I am often defensive in the face of criticism and I avoid things that are hard. I don't ask for help when I need it and I let pride get in my way. None of that was easy to write.
I am learning what a gift humility is ... to put down my defenses and allow the truth of my mistakes and weaknesses to really land and pierce my heart. I am learning that when I admit my mistakes and make amends, the humility brings about a feeling of dignity and resolve. It is part of my own healing.
Do you choose a word or set an intention for 2020? If so, I'd love to hear what yours is. Please share with me over email, or text my Right On Time Hotline: 612-998-2355. I'm still making a weekly message, most often on Mondays. Call anytime to hear my thoughts and encouragement for the week!
And I have more good news for 2020. I am thrilled to release "Ordinary Love" in Minneapolis on Feb 14, 2020 at the Cedar Cultural Center! I'm so grateful to be able to share it with you on Valentine's Day. Can you join me?
I would love to have a sold out show. Will you help me spread the word and fill the Cedar with our ordinary love?! ;-)
Here are a few ideas:
- Reserve tickets for the show
- Organize a group of folks to go together
- Invite your Minnesota friends and family
- Hang up a mini flier at your favorite coffee shop or community bulletin board
- Share on FB or invite friends
- Share your awesome idea for promoting the show with me!
I cannot wait for this show y'all. I love playing The Cedar because it feels to me comfy, like an expanded living room. I will be joined by The OK Factor (violin and cello duo), Jennifer "JJ "Jones on percussion (she offers online drumming lessons!), and my friend and local collaborator Desdamona! So many awesome women all in one night! You can buy tickets here!
I hope I get to see you so soon! Please do share your new year's words and hopes with me.
much peace love and music always,
