Parish Council News

At November's Parish Council Meeting the issue of speeding traffic was once again raised, this is particularly a problem at along the High Street and Church Street.

The Parish Council is working with Leeds City Council to look at measures to control excessive speeds including Vehicle Activated Signs.

The Police have carried out speed checks around the village and have issued warning notices, they found that most speeding drivers live locally - please slow down.

Our High Street shops and businesses are staying open late on Wednesday 7th with something for everyone including Christmas gifts, Carol Singers, special menus and Christmas drinks.  Santa will be taking some time out of his busy schedule to call in too!

The library is open late and holding a Lego/Santa workshop from 5.30pm and there is an amazing hamper to be won - don't miss it!

Boston Spa Art and Crafts Festival

The 8th annual Boston Spa Art and Crafts Festival was held in the Village Hall on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th October 2016. The Festival is a showplace for the many talented artists and craft workers in the area, seeks to encourage young participants, and supports the Village Hall refurbishment.

Over the years the event has gone from strength to strength, thanks to the efforts of the many people who have worked towards its success. This year’s Festival was no exception. The Festival Committee wish to thank most sincerely the 50 individual and several group exhibitors, around 1,000 visitors, and the many voluntary helpers, whose involvement ensured its success.

For your diary – 13th and 14th October 2017!

Bravery Award for our Postmaster

The efforts of our postmaster, Tony Williams and several bystanders who helped detectives with their investigation were recognised with a bravery award at a ceremony earlier this week.

Tony gave chase after the post office was targeted in March 2015 by two armed raiders who threatened staff and customers. The gang members - who were in disguise, with one being pushed in a wheelchair - were jailed earlier this year.

A very well deserved award.
