Boston Spa & the NP

The Boston Spa Neighbourhood Plan Group had a helpful meeting with Leeds CC representatives on 22nd October to discuss the timetable to progress the Plan.   The latest draft of the Plan is currently with Leeds for their comments and once the final revisions are completed we will be aiming to move to the next stage of the process – a formal 6 week consultation with residents and businesses early in January 2016. Once that has been completed the final Plan will be submitted to Leeds CC who will then:
·         Final check to ensure all the legal requirements have been met
·         Publicise the Plan for 6 weeks & invite people to make comments
·         Appoint an Independent Examiner to consider whether the proposed Plan meets the Basic Conditions set out by law
·         Publicise the Examiners report
·         Arrange for the Referendum to take place.

As we move through the process we will be firming up on the timetable, so watch this space!

Street Scene

Recent heavy rain has caused some temporary flooding due to drains being blocked by fallen leaves. It is anticipated that the problems will be alleviated as road sweepers progress through the village.
The lack of soap in the Ladies toilets has been reported to the Parish Council by a resident. Leeds City Council (LCC) have written to us stating that soap should be regularly replenished and therefore should individuals encounter problems they should email Steve Morritt stating date and time the toilets were visited and the matter will be taken up with LCC.
The Parish Council has ordered a new bench which will be located outside Costcutters.

Remembrance Day

The church service will take place this year at St Marys starting at 10am then the congregation will walk to the War Memorial, located next to the Village Hall, where the Act of Remembrance will take place at 10.45.
Please be aware the road outside the Village Hall will be closed for the duration and a diversion will be in place, coffee will be served afterwards in the Village Hall.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Parking at Stables lane Car Park

Following the public consultation the Parish Council has withdrawn its request for LCC to look at the possibility of restricting parking to 4 hours, as the overwhelming majority of comments received were in favour of unrestricted parking.

Message from West Yorkshire Police

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Angela Williams has taken part in a short crime prevention video (click here to view video) and said:

"Reducing burglary remains a priority and we are committed to bringing offenders to justice. We all have a part to play in reducing these offences and there are simple steps we can all take to deter burglars from our homes, such as locking doors and windows and leaving a light on.

Vehicles can also be vulnerable. Make sure you don't leave valuable items in your car, or the boot,  remove change and gadgets, don't just hide them in the glove compartment. Even a coat on the back seat could tempt a passing burglar to target your vehicle. Always check that your vehicle is locked, and if you have a garage use it.

West Yorkshire Police have a website dedicated our area it can be seen here
