On Our High Street

High Street Boston SpaOur high street will soon see some new additions particularly for those who enjoy good food with the La Casita Tapas bar ready to throw its doors open any time soon.

The new Stew & Oyster building looks to be nearing completion so hopefully by the end of summer we will all be spoilt for choice when dining out in our village.

Boston Spa in Bloom

Thanks must go to the small army of volunteers that work throughout the spring and summer months creating and watering all the hanging baskets, flower beds and planters around Boston Spa. Many people have commented on
how beautiful they are, the colours really do brighten up our village main street.

You can find out more on the Boston Spa Gardening Society website.

Neighbourhood Plan Latest....

Neighbourhood Plan logoWe really are approaching the end now as the final questionnaire has been sent to all residents, please, please, please do take the time to read and fill yours in and return it to one of the many collection boxes dotted around the village, alternatively you can fill it in online, remember this is your chance to have your say on the future of your village.

The Summary Document for Informal Consultation can be seen on the Neighbourhood Plan pages of the PC website

Open Space at Church Fields

As the building work nears completion on Church Fields thoughts now turn to the landscaping and particularly the calcareous grass meadow planned for the open space adjoining the riverside. The establishment of a meadow was one of the conditions imposed during the planning process. This will require about 800 lorry loads of top soil to be removed and the land starved of nutrients to hopefully create a natural wild flowering meadow.

The Parish Council is working with Taylor Wimpey and Leeds City Council to create a space for the whole community to use and enjoy.

Heritage Trail

You may have spotted blue plaques popping up along the High Street and Riverside, these are part of our new heritage trails.
Two walking routes lead from the centre of the village, one going east towards Tadcaster before turning down to walk back along the riverside. The second trail runs west from the bridge to Jackdaw Crag and comes back on the Deepdale footpath to the High Street.
Trail leaflets will be ready soon and will be available to download from the PC website.

Boston Spa Farmers Market

The traders at the monthly Farmers Market are concerned that the current footfall means the market may have to fold.  They are going to try for two more months so please try to support them and all our High Street Shops by shopping local.
