A boy and a girl!  The shower will be after Sunday worship service 1/24/20 11:30-12:30.  They are registered at Target and Amazon.  Sam’s gift cards for diapers and formula are also a gift idea.  Contact Wanda Trieschman 901-568-2783 with any questions.
Women’s Wednesday Morning Bible Study

You are invited to join us for bible study on Wednesday mornings.   We will be using Priscilla Shirer’s study “One in a Million” starting on January 27th at 10:00 am.
This 7-week study talks about how the captive Israelites would become disillusioned and not live up to their destiny comparing them to how we Christians today understand the promises of God on Sunday, but so often do not choose to experience them in our everyday lives. Let’s learn to live those promises daily!!
This class will be led by Sharon Higgins. The book fee is $22.00.  Please register for this class by Monday, January 11, by emailing Sharon at
The Christian Parenting Fellowship group has resumed on Sunday mornings at 9:30! We are just beginning a DVD series on called "Grace-based Parenting". There is no homework or outside reading, however you can purchase a book if you choose (not required). No need to read ahead of time as we will use the DVD and leader guide to direct our time together.

We will meet on Sundays at 9:30 in the library conference room at church. A Zoom link is available for anyone who does not want to attend in person.

If you are interested in learning more, check out or contact Amy Emerson at 901-647-5582 or

As you may recall, last June our Church Council voted for our church to continue to explore the issue of racism and how it impacts the Church. In an effort to facilitate this exploration for those who are interested, I would like to make you aware of an organization within the United Methodist Church called the General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR).

In 1968, GCORR was formed to hold the newly formed United Methodist Church accountable in its commitment to reject the sin of racism in every aspect of the life of the church. Today GCORR continues to challenge and equip the church to complete its unfinished agenda of dismantling racial discrimination. It champions diversity, equity and inclusion; develops interculturally competent leaders; and catalyzes authentic community.

GCORR provides resources for those who are interested to learn more about dismantling racism in the church. Next Tuesday at 2pm there will be an online discussion called "Conversations about Racism and the UMC". It is free and open to anyone who would like to listen. I will be participating and would love for others to join so we can discuss informally at a later time. Click on the link to sign up and let me know if you plan to attend.

In Christ,

Amy Emerson, Lay Leader
