LVF YEHEY Advocate….A Champion for Children’s Rights in the Making
Our Representative during the 4th Philippine National Children’s Congress was, Catherine, a Youth Helping Youth leader .Just like other girls of her age, Catherine is fond of movie stars, anime comics and pop rock. But what made her unique is being the voice of her fellow youth. Comming from her difficult situation as a street child she has a great desire to uplift those who are still trapped in the chains of abject poverty. Having been exposed to LVF’s advocacy work and having received hands-on training from her LVF-YEHEY mentors, she was well prepared for a bigger role in child rights advocacy.Catherine attended 2 levels of Pool of Advocates Training facilitated by the Council for the Welfare of Children before she was given this task of being one of the 13 young facilitators in the 4th PNCC. Her first training was on Public Speaking . To prepare her for a more difficult task as a facilitator in the PNCC, Catherine attended the Second Level which focused on confidence building, community problems analysis and resource mapping among others. The 4th Philippines National Children’s Congress central theme was ending violence against children by building better families and communities. All these wonderful opportunities brought out Catherine’s potential. In another training she attended on Digital Media, Catherine appreciated the precious value of time and the conscious use of it.
