Thank You Sr Vilma
On the 144th anniversary of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sr. Vilma Tallone,  the FMA’s Economer General came to the Philippines as Delegate of Mother General Sr. Yvonne Reungoat. She went to several houses including the Laura Vicuña Center (LVC).  Sr. Vilma helped procure funds for the construction of the new LVF building  from the Conferenza Episcopale Italiana (CEI). LVC happily welcomed Sr. Vilma and she admired the  LVC girls for being  courageous in spite of all they have been through in life. “This building is  built for you.  We are really thinking about you when we were building this home.  The Sisters, teachers and staff will be there to help you achieve your goal and dreams in life.  She told them, I know you are very brave and have endured everything.  You will not be here if you are cowards.”
Laura Vicuna Technology Center Batch 2016-2018
The Laura Vicuna Technology Center (LVTC) welcomed 43 students for this school year.  25 second year trainees were placed in industry for their on-the-job-training while 18 new trainees began  school year 2016-2018.  LVTC employs the Dual Training System.  The instructors are Ms. Felina Narvaez  the LVTC- OIC, Sr. Ana Guerrero, FMA, the co- curricular coordinator, Ms Abigail Nol and Ms Charina Tolibas.
A VISIT TO LVC
Seventeen Sister students of the St. Scholastica’s College Women’s Studies Department came to Laura Vicuña Center last July 22, 2016.   Women’s Studies is designed to address issues of women and gender as they affect Philippine society in general.  It expects praxis in terms of networking, renewal, personal empowerment and social change.  These Sisters were oriented regarding LVF’s programs and services by Sr. Fely Boado, FMA; Ms. Joy Hugo and Ms. Karla Casandra Torino. They became acquainted about LVF, had the opportunity to discuss networking and how to strengthen collaboration.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF MS. CARMEL ALOG
Two hundred twenty LVF children attended the birthday celebration of Ms. Carmel Alog last August 27th at the Provincial House. The Sta. Mesa children provided a special presentation to their Ate Carmel and Kuya Perry with their 4 children which made the celebration more meaningful and memorable for her and her family.  The event was concluded with a hearty meal and distribution of giveaways.
READ-ALONG
Twenty-two children from LVF’s Child Protection Clinic on Wheels Bacood attended the Special Read-Along Session at the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Office last August 27th to commemorate National Heroes Day. Celebrities were able to capture the attention of the audience with their humorous narration of some tales of courage, selflessness and sacrifice.  Stories read had this unifying message- everybody can become a modern-day hero. It is just doing ordinary things with diligence and commitment without expecting anything in return.
