Pope to Youth:

Meet With the Elderly to Expand Wisdom

During this Advent and Christmas season, let us not forget the people in our lives who truly love us, care about us, and need us: our elderly. Pope Francis recently met with a small group of youth and encouraged them to meet with their grandparents in order to receive their "historic wisdom and faith." The Pope mentioned the beauty and importance of hearing, preserving, and valuing their experiences and  faith.

"They should seek out those 'no one ever sees' and 'dare to take the first step to meet them, to give them a little bit of your time, a smile, an act of tenderness.'"

*On a side note: two weeks ago our Edge Middle School Program took a trip to the Whittier Hills Healthcare Center. The group of twenty-five sang carols throughout the building, bringing Christmas cheer to all the residents!*
