Volunteer Awards Nomination Deadline February 1st

We value the work of our volunteers! We couldn’t provide programs or services without them! The CHS-MC Volunteer Award Program gives us the opportunity to thank the people who make a difference to the bleeding disorders community in Manitoba. Take a moment to acknowledge a CHS-MC volunteer who has made a difference to you or your family. The nomination deadline is February 1st.http://ow.ly/wVk930ns9ce

CHS Advocacy Workshop – Women’s Bleeding Disorder Clinic

The Chapter has accessed the opportunity to hold an advocacy workshop that will be facilitated by three expert facilitators from the CHS. The workshop will center on developing a project plan with the goal of achieving a Women’s Bleeding Disorder Clinic in Manitoba. We are looking for members who are interested in working on this project.

Participants will be required to help with some pre-workshop research and preparation. The workshop itself will be held Saturday, April 13th from morning to after supper and the morning of Sunday, April 14th at Delta Hotels by Marriott Winnipeg. Participants will be expected to continue work with the Chapter after the workshop to move forward with the final project plan

If you are passionate about advocacy and the issues that face women with inherited bleeding disorders in our community, this is an excellent opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking time in our history. There are limited spaces available. Please contact the Chapter office if you would like to work on this project!

CHS Summer Programs to Watch For!

Its cold outside but here at CHS-MC we are well into planning the summer programs! Funding proposals asking for grants for Family Camp and the Guys Camping Trip have been sent out. We hope to be able to offer these programs this summer: The links below will take you to 2018 information. As soon as we  can confirm for 2019, we will post current information.

The tentative date for the Guys Camping Trip is June 21st to 23rd at Riding Mountain National Park.
The tentative date for CHS-MC Family Camp is July 14th to 20th at Luther Village.

Stay tuned for registration details!

Annual General Meeting (AGM) Wednesday, April 24th

The AGM celebrates the accomplishments of the Chapter in the past year, to hold Board elections and to recognise Chapter volunteers. Watch for the time and location to be published at a later date. Come out and meet new members and visit with old friends!

Why come to an AGM? The Annual General Meeting has several important functions:
  • Members receive reports from the Board, Chapter Committee Chairpersons and Chapter staff. This is the best time to see what our committees have accomplished over the past year and learn what their goals are for 2019!
  • The 2018 financial statement, a financial summary and the 2019 budget will be put forth to the membership for approval.
  • Participate in the future of the organization by voting for the Board Executive and Board Directors. Maybe this is the year you choose to run for a Directorship?

CHS-MC Board Elections

The CHS-MC Board wants to be representative of all the different types of members that we serve. We are currently looking for representation from Chapter families with children in the pediatric program, members with Von Willebrand Disease and women with inherited bleeding disorders.

CHS-MC is a grass-roots, volunteer run organization. We rely on volunteers to sit on the Board of Directors as well as the Chapter’s committees. Have you ever thought to run for a position? There have been some changes to how the Chapter operates as a result of our move to a virtual office. The 2019 Board Volunteer Job Descriptions reflect those changes. If you have any questions contact the office and we’ll put you in touch with Nomination Committee Chair, John Rogasky.

Nominations & Proxies
Nominations must be into the office by April 10th. Please download a 2019 CHS-MC Board Election Nomination Form and have it sent into the Chapter office by April 10th. If you would like us to mail a form to you, please contact the office.

Proxy forms must be into the office by Wednesday, April 17th. Please download a 2019 Election Proxy Form and have it into the office by April 17th. If you would like us to mail a form to you, please contact the office.

Positions for Election

Gala Prize Committee Needs Help. SERIOUSLY!

Getting prizes for a fundraising event is extremely hard! We need members to make donations to help, or connect us to their friends who may be able to help us. There are a number of ways you can do this:

  • Re-gifting is a good thing! Did you get a gift that you just can't use? Maybe a gift card from a store or restaurant that you don't frequent? We'll take it!
  • Did you win a prize at a social you don't need? The Gala will gladly take it.
  • Can you send us a gift card? We will use gift cards from places like Best Buy to purchase electronics. Cards from Canadian Tire or Walmart can be used in multiple ways.
  • Donate a gift basket of your own making.
  • Donate a piece of art for the silent auction
The prizes at the Gala Dinner raise a significant amount of money for the Chapter. Donations of purchased products and gift cards can be tax receipted for the amount of the card or item. If you are re-gifting, we can receipt you for the current retail value of the item.

Call the Chapter office if you have something for us. We have volunteers who do pick-ups once a week.

Executive Chef Luc Jean

.We are very excited to welcome back Luc Jean, Executive Chef at WOW Catering to the 2019 Gala Dinner team! Chef Luc worked his magic for us in 2016 and 2017. We can’t wait to taste his 2019 soup course. https://goo.gl/v4L7B3 Have you seen Chef Luc on his Ici Radio-Canada Télé series, “La Main a La Pate”? You can watch back episodes at https://goo.gl/wBKiW6 while we wait for season 2 scheduled for spring 2019.  In the meantime, you can join us at #HMBGala2019 and enjoy his work!
