Complimentary Wednesday Night Ticket to College Night
On behalf of the College Night Committee, all faculty and staff are invited to the Wednesday evening performances of the Centennial College Night productions, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. Email email@example.com to reserve your free ticket. If you do not already have an account on University Tickets, you will need to sign up for one. Once your email is received, tickets will be processed within three days and assigned to you in University Tickets. You will receive a confirmation email when this is completed. Complimentary tickets must be reserved by Wednesday, Jan. 23.
Strategic Plan 2020-2025 Town Halls
Preparation for UM’s 2020-2025 Strategic Plan is underway. The first step is a series of Town Hall Meetings. Please make plans to participate in one of the scheduled meetings. If you cannot attend a meeting, you are also invited to take the online survey. Your participation is appreciated and is important to the process.
Foreign Language Film Series Continues
The Foreign Language Film Series, sponsored by the Foreign Language Program and the Latin American Studies Minor, continues this semester. The series will feature four films over the course of the semester. All films are free and open to the public and will be screened in Spanish with English subtitles. The first film in the series will be “Flor Silvestre” (Wild Flower), on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m. in Comer Auditorium.
Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award Nominations
The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award recognizes students who exhibit exceptional humanitarian and spiritual qualities at the University. The award honors those who put service above self. Students graduating in December 2018 and May 2019 are eligible for consideration. Contact the Dean of Students office at 205-665-6020 for a nomination form. Falcon Success Center Class Visitations
The Falcon Success Center (FSC) aspires to support every UM student as they achieve academic and personal success at the University and beyond. If you are interested in having a representative from the FSC speak to your classes about the services provided, such as free tutoring, study away opportunities or scholarship management, please contact the FSC with class information, including the location and days/times you would like a representative to visit. The visit should take no longer than ten minutes. The FSC is also available for class presentations on a number of topics, including Successful First Semester, Active Reading and Note-Taking Skills, Preparing for Advising and much more. Annual Staff Performance Evaluations
THIS MESSAGE ONLY APPLIES TO STAFF EMPLOYEES AND THEIR SUPERVISORS.
It is time to start the annual staff performance evaluation process. This process will provide an opportunity to reflect on 2018 accomplishments and set professional goals for 2019. The University's salary administration process for staff employees includes a pay-for-performance component that is administered through our online performance evaluation system, PeopleAdmin.
If you are a new staff employee (including part-time employees, but excluding temporary and student employees), or if you are new to supervising staff employees and you did not attend a training session last year, you must attend a training session this year. However, if you would like a refresher training session, please feel free to sign up and attend a session. All training sessions will be held in the Wills Master Classroom, Room 200. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register. Space is limited and availability is on a first come, first served basis. Register early to ensure you can attend at your preferred time.

Green Fund Call for Proposals: Due Feb. 1
The UM Green Fund is a pool of money used to provide grants for campus projects that improve sustainability, decrease our ecological footprint and educate the University and local communities about sustainable practices, environmental issues, and caring for the planet. The Green Fund has $5,610 remaining! Any member of the UM community, including students and student groups, can write a Green Fund grant proposal. Application guidelines are available by request. Contact Dr. Caplow at email@example.com for more information. All proposals are due Friday, Feb. 1.
2019 Undergraduate Research Day Planning
The Undergraduate Research Program announces a t-shirt design contest for the 2019 Run for Research. This contest is open to all students, faculty and staff. Design should be suitable for a shirt with a background color of purple, gold, white, black or gray and imprint color of white, black, purple or gold. Submissions may include a large design to fill the back of the shirt and a small design for the front shirt pocket. Designs should be submitted as a .pdf file to URProgram@montevallo.edu with the subject line “t-shirt design” no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8. The winner will be announced at Undergraduate Research Day in March and will receive $75!
Introducing Faculty Fridays
Beginning this month, University Marketing & Communications will be highlighting a faculty member each Friday (during the spring and fall semesters) on the University website and UM social media.
How it works:
- Submit a blurb about your latest research, conference presentation, performance, exhibit, etc. to “Vallo Voice.”
- Selections for each Faculty Friday will come from these submissions.
