Montevallo and Jefferson State Announce Partnership with continuUM Program

On Nov. 1, UM and Jefferson State Community College announced a partnership to give students a smoother transition from the community college to the four-year public university.

The formalized program, continuUM, offers Jefferson State students guaranteed admission to UM after earning 24 transferable credit hours.

Students accepted into the continuUM program are issued a Montevallo student ID, which grants them the ability to use online services including digital library resources through Carmichael Library.

Jefferson State students can use the ID to utilize the McChesney Student Activity Center workout areas and attend UM athletic and student life events. They will also have access to career counseling advice through the Career Development Center and pre-transfer advising.

Student Highlight

Mass communication major Jasmyne Ray’s video story on the Pat Scales Special Collections Room in Carmichael Library was featured in School Library Journal’s write-up of the room's dedication ceremony. This was Jasmyne's first video for her MC 327: TV and Online Reporting class.

As a token of our appreciation to all of our loyal weekly Vallo Voice readers, we are continuing to host a small contest each week. Below are three questions pertaining to this week’s issue. Submit the correct answers with this survey link to enter a monthly drawing for UM merchndise!

  1.  When and where will the top students be recognized during the annual Senior Elite Night?
  2. In Jasymne Ray’s video, she mentions a well-known children’s author that Pat Scales is close to. What is the name of that children’s author?
  3. In order to be granted admission to UM, how many transferrable credit hours must Jeff State students achieve?
